Resturantants are greedy and are not subsidizing the prices for doordash to be on par with in person.
They need to show these restaurants on the apps so consumers can avoid them and complain that is all |

It's my understanding that most (not all) food delivery companies are demanding unsustainable percentages for their services which force restaurants to increase prices. I make it a habit to just order from the restaurant if possible and pick up my order. That way all the money goes to the restaurant directly. |
Resturants are saving money by using doordash by not needing to serve or hold people, they should discount as needed, however, i'd like to see transparency on the prices being overcharged to show which restaurants are the perpetrators |
+100 we do the same. |
Umm are you having trouble understanding that Doordash and the other apps take a huge chunk of the restaurant's money? So restaurants raise their prices to cover what Doordash takes. Let's take an example. A pizza pie costs the restaurant $10 to make. It charges customers $15 for that pizza, which covers the labor to make and serve/package. Now Doordash comes to deliver that pizza, it takes 30% so $4.50, leaving the restaurant barely able to cover costs of that pizza. So it needs to raise the prices to leave it some profit after delivery app fees. Instead, get off your butt and get your food yourself directly from the restaurant so they get to keep the money. |
There are many articles on the subject if you do a Google search. It's widely accepted that food delivery companies are predatory and restaurants are the victims. Traditional restaurants would love to accept more people indoors, they function as social places. ChowNow is a subscription-based, not commission-based, food delivery service that purports to keep restaurants in business by not taking too much of a cut of their margins. Their platform doesn't look too different from their competitors, but apparently they're better for the restaurant industry compared to the others. |
Most people that matter, millennials and Genz, don't want to go to a restaurant they'd rather have it at home. Unless the restaurant is providing an experience or it's a bar. |
