It's my understanding that most (not all) food delivery companies are demanding unsustainable percentages for their services which force restaurants to increase prices. I make it a habit to just order from the restaurant if possible and pick up my order. That way all the money goes to the restaurant directly.
Resturants are saving money by using doordash by not needing to serve or hold people, they should discount as needed, however, i'd like to see transparency on the prices being overcharged to show which restaurants are the perpetrators
Umm are you having trouble understanding that Doordash and the other apps take a huge chunk of the restaurant's money? So restaurants raise their prices to cover what Doordash takes. Let's take an example. A pizza pie costs the restaurant $10 to make. It charges customers $15 for that pizza, which covers the labor to make and serve/package. Now Doordash comes to deliver that pizza, it takes 30% so $4.50, leaving the restaurant barely able to cover costs of that pizza. So it needs to raise the prices to leave it some profit after delivery app fees. Instead, get off your butt and get your food yourself directly from the restaurant so they get to keep the money.
