Gaza War, Part 3

McConnell has zero principles. Netanyahu is destabilizing Israel. Israel is fighting each other (hostage families still demonstrating against the Israeli government and getting resisted as Hamas supporters of all things by the right wingers).

It’s like the divide and conquer /fractured society Bibi wanted with Palestinians by helping Hamas came to him instead.

The fact that the Hamas tunnels can’t even be penetrated by 2,000 pound bombs and Israel has dropped successive bomb after bomb on Gaza means they were masterfully created and perfect over a very long period of time. This wasn’t some amateur upstart work. Netanyahu somehow oversaw all this from Israel and thought it would be fine because they would never be able to attack Israel even though the rockets kept getting better and going further and further over time.

He’s delusional and got outwitted by Hamas, Putin, trolled by Trump, schooled by Obama, lost Biden with beheaded baby gate which he should have never said to the President than confirm to Israel days later that it isn’t true.

This is amateur hour politicking that he can’t get right

At a large pro-Palestinian student and faculty protest at Columbia University in New York City on Friday, two Zionists sprayed students with something resembling a chemical weapon called “Skunk.” Both individuals, who were wearing fake keffiyehs, have been identified as Columbia General Studies students and former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers.

The attack took place during an event—“Hands off Yemen and Gaza! No more tuition for the war machine”—that was organized by the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) chapters at Columbia University outside the Low Library. Despite freezing temperatures and a systematic campaign of intimidation targeting opponents of the state policy of genocide in Gaza, the protest drew around 300 participants. ..

.. A Columbia student present at the protest told the World Socialist Web Site, “The people who did this were Columbia students who served in the IDF. This was premeditated and done with the aim to hurt students. Columbia needs to take immediate action. This behavior is unacceptable on a college campus.”

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2024/01/22/lfsy-j22.html

Truth comes out. These “students” or really IDF thugs need their identity and address release to the public. Hopefully Columbia will expel these thugs and band anyone who is involved with the IDF. These people are terrorists. Could you imagine what would have happened if Palestinians had did this?

Give me a break. There is SO much dubious info in this article - starting with the site itself, "World Socialist Web Site" - a far left tankie propaganda rag.

And then it says PROTESTERS WERE ATTACKED!!!!1!!! - ehh sounds like someone used skunk spray, so what. The protesters in Lafayette Square suffered far worse treatment when Trump wanted to have his bible photo op.
And then it claims it was done by "two former IDF soldiers" - ehh unnamed suspects, and with no source of this alleged info... and given that all Israelis are, unless specifically exempted, are required to serve that means most adult Israelis are "former IDF soldiers" making that label pretty meaningless in context even if it turned out to be true.
And then it says "wearing fake keffiyehs" - uhhhhwhat? There's no such thing as a "fake keffiyeh" - a keffiyeh is a keffiyeh, they are cheap and readily available and anyone can buy and wear one..
... and so on... That article is a total joke.

No, most reasonable people do not.
The far left does. The far left seems to own the Democratic Party today.

Please explain to me what the problem with Schumer's comments are. If you are opposed to a two state solution, then what do you see as an alternative that isn't one side or the other eradicating completely?

Now the schlub has the US and Russia against him and China (wtf?) and though usually Israel has one ME ally in either Turks, Iranian, or Gulf Arabs he has alienated Iran with the commander strike years ago, Assad, pissed off Qatar , and Egypt by pretending they didn’t give him direct intel that Hamas is planning for something and lots of transactions and financial activity is going on that symbolize something is afoot .

It’s time to throw in the towel and retire in Israel or maybe get a Ritz Carlton presidential suite in Qatar relaxing and play table tennis or chess poolside with his Hamas pal Khaled Meshaal , table tennis enthusiast

Lots of people would say a primary obstacle is settlers stealing land with impunity, but Schumer doesn't seem to care about that.

I hope this writer is still alive in Gaza. He wrote a poignant article earlier on in this war

It must be hard for this thread to get away from you. Schumer moved for sundry reasons here, including this. I wish it wouldn't have taken this long, but am glad this step has been taken and will be keeping the pressure on for more to come.

Yup. More "settlers" got added to the sanctions list today. What's more they started adding entire settlements.

The attack cannot be trivialized. If you don't like WSWS, there are plenty of other sources that report the same information. The "fake keffiyehs" means the IDF students slyly used a disguise to get close to the targeted students. "Skunk" doesn't just smell bad; it is a chemical weapon that can make people sick. Several students had to go to the hospital, and some complained of long-lasting effects. Obviously, violence of this sort is unacceptable, and the aggressors need to be disciplined. Two of the culprits have been identified as former IDF soldiers who are taking General Studies classes.

Come back here and post comments from someone who didn't eviscerate American institutions more than McConnell. And that's saying a lot given that Trump was president.

A two state solution usually implies Gaza and the west bank. So no, I disagree with you.

Well of course fringe right wingers in the US and Israel are going to be upset by Schumer's speech. But the rest of the world wants Israel to stop dumb-bombing Palestinians (taking out hamas is fine) and wants a two state solution to end the hostilities.

Maybe people should be uniting behind that, rather than being critical of Schumer. The US standing and worse, Israel's standing over this is being damaged significantly.

You left out all the pro-Hamas extreme left who actually want Israel destroyed. Yes, most normal people with a brain and some solid values do agree with Schumer.
