I'm going to Water Country USA while on a diet. I get that I won't be in my normal low calorie, high protein diet so I need to figure out what are the best option for me in terms of what is available, help me stay full longer and have enough energy for rides. Amongst all the food options, I'm narrowing down my choices to Turkey leg(half), 2 corndogs, chicken fingers with fries.
Am I correct in thinking that Turkey leg is the best option here? |
Probably not. My teenager ..who could eat a full cow..got the turkey leg at Disney. It was disgustingly greasy.
For a theme park, eat something with protein like scrambled eggs and veggies for breakfast before going, bring along a (or a few depending on how much you eat) protein or granola bar, only drink water at the park, maybe get a piece of fruit at one of the stands if available. Fries and chicken tenders are not good options either. I never eat in amusement parks the food is never very good and nt worth the calories or expense. |
I'd bring (or sneak in) pretzels, cheese, nuts, and some fruit. Treat yourself to a small ice cream or something similar. A soda if that's your thing.

A quick google search shows they have sandwiches, wraps and salads. Get one of those. |
They have salads. If you say you have an allergy, you can pack a lunch. Or they sell yogurt and fruit. |
OP again, I may have worded my question wrong. If you were to pick from these 3, which one is the best option? I specifically listed these because the other food options are either horrible, or the cafes have long lines. Salads/Fruits are not an option since I will be walking/climbing/riding all day, these will not last long. I intend to only eat one time. |

Yeah, my first thought is burger but there's only 1 store that serves it. And it takes almost 1 hr to get food there. |
You're willing to eat nasty food because you don't want to stand in a line? Go at 11 or have a late lunch at 2. |
It's one meal during the course of an active day. Eat where your kids want to eat and get whatever is appetizing to you at the time based on your hunger. One less nutritious or calorie dense meal is not going to cause any permanent damage. |
I would go for turkey leg (maybe add something to it - bread?crackers? don't know something plain/non-sweet/starchy). Second choice would be chicken fingers/fries
Fruits/granola bars don't cut it, too much sugar/not enough protein. I'd crush on that diet by the middle of the day. |
I’d eat chicken tenders and fries. Drink a ton of water and you’ll be fine. I’m pretty strict with diet usually but a corndog at the fair and a bite of cheesecake wasn’t even a blip. I had beer and a burger at a baseball game the other day it was fine too. Just keep these occasions minimal. |
I pack my lunch in a cooler, leave it in the car, and have a picnic mid-day. I hate greasy food and don’t feel good eating it. Is that an option? |
You can have the fries but I wouldn't eat more than 4 or 5 of them. That's it, from the options you listed. Corn dogs are probably the most evil, unhealthy food on the planet aside from ding-dongs. |
Pack your meal in a cooler and go back to the car for lunch . |
