APS- probably dumb question

My child is a rising 1st grader. I didn’t need to do anything to re-register for this year, right? I have new medical forms but I can’t find a place to upload them in ParentVue. And we don’t have a teacher assignment (I know that’s not unusual) so I just want to make sure I didn’t make a dumb mistake by not re-enrolling or something!

I honestly have never felt as dumb as I do parenting an APS student— I am not one to usually expect handholding, but I never feel like I know what is going on!

OP, I would call the school if you have any questions--no, your question isn't dumb. Don't listen, however, to people who still use the term "junior high."

I know! I swear they used to require medical forms each year, but then changed it. I don't think you need to do anything.

Well that wasn't my recollection, but regardless, I don't think OP needs to do anything and I don't think the information available is clear enough.

You need them for MS/HS sports annually.

OP, a form came home in the spring asking if your child was moving or leaving APS. you only returned it if one of those were true. You probably tossed it and it left your memory. No need to reregister. Log into ParentVUE you’ll see them listed with their current grade for Fall.

You don't need new medical forms. In preschool, when kids are still in the vaccination cycle, you need them.

But all kids should be done with the required vaccines before they enter kindergarten. If their is a new medical concern, I'd contact the school nurse. Otherwise, you do not need to upload new medical forms.

Sorry I didn’t use the correct term. Is it middle school? I wouldn’t know because I have 2 kids in APS elementary school. I know my answer is correct for Ashlawn because my neighbor asked this question last week and she called our elementary to confirm.

Some of us grew up in a "junior high" system. Sometimes a person's original ingrained terms slip into conversations. Is it really that big of a deal?

Lots of localities still use “junior high.” APS may not use it, but it’s not an outdated term.

Hi OP, you don't need to re register but if your child needs meds administered at school, or has emergency meds like an epi pen, then you DO need to redo those forms every year. Contact your school nurse.
