Craigs pokes u for a nervous kid?

Anonymous
I found many positive reviews of craig pokes u on here for kid ear piercing. My seven year old is dying to get her ears pierced, but when I took her to a place (not craig pokes u), she was super scared and backed out. I may just have her wait until she is 8, but wanted to see if anyone has experience there with a needle phobic very nervous kid who also really wants to get their ears pierced.

It’s expensive. What about her doctors office?

My daughter had a great experience there. She was super nervous day-of, but then took the time to explain everything that was going to happen and then told her what was coming again at every step so there were no surprises. If you tell them in advance that the appointment is for a child, they will often have two piercers do it so they can pierce both ears at the same time.

Yes, they’re very sensitive to the kids!

PP here they did both ears simultaneously for both children. Manager in the back came out and helped the girl on register so they could do at same time.

Yes, they are awesome! They ignored me (meaning, they were piercing her ears, so they talked directly to her) and talked my daughter, who was 6 at the time, through every step. They showed her exactly what was going to happen, and then talked her through it as it was happening. They were great, I really appreciated how kind and professional they were. My current 6 year old is super excited to get hers done.

+1 for CPU. My daughter requested her ears done at 7, but is anxious. I also really appreciated how they dealt with her.

My kid passed out while getting their ears pierced at Craig’s, and the piercer handled it beautifully and said it happens all the time; people forget to breathe and often haven’t eaten enough, etc.

So I give them a strong recommend for an anxious kid.

I took my nervous kid here so she could get the numbing cream and both ears pierced at the same time. Chances were high she’d leave with only one ear done if we went the usual route. They’re super nice and took great care of her.

CPU will also pierce 2 at the same time. Just ask when you make your appointment. We didn’t even ask because I didn’t know and they did DD’s that way

It still doesn't sound like she's ready. Don't push it

I'd wait another year and then go to CPU.

My post that OP found helpful was deleted, but I did want to say that consent is really important there. They asked my daughter for permission and then walked her through the process and told what they were going to for each step. I believe that if at any point she had said no or started crying, they would have stopped immediately. They are professionals and take their jobs very seriously.

+1 they very deliberately ask the child for consent. DD 12 and I had an awesome conversation after about why that was important.

My DD has severe anxiety and had a very good experience. Both done at the same time, they told her what they were doing so she didn’t have to anticipate.
