In this thread, Wayside parents should be happy that there is no nuclear option like option 3 in Woodward where you get shipped to Gaithersburg HS to balance FARMS.

Wayside going from Churchill to Wootton should be a non-event for most families. Not sure why so much noise. Wootton is equally good school.

The neighborhoods moving from Wootton to Crown seems like the the biggest losers in the Crown options.

Yes, it’s a big loss for many people, not just on property value but also having to leave friends and attend a brand new half done school without auditorium. Many uncertainties especially for the 9th graders who have to leave on whether the new school offer the same rigorous courses, club/sports activities, etc

Hundreds of kids have had to move schools due to boundary changes. Your kids will be alright. Sheesh.

Where? You lack basic empathy for affected kids.

Where? Have you been living under a rock? MCPS has had a few boundaries redrawn in the past 10 years.

My kids moved schools, including across the country. They are fine. Yes, it will be hard at first, but they will adjust. It's not like they are moving all alone. Your entire neighborhood will move. Sheesh. I hope you teach your kids more resilience.

MCPS has very limited redistricting but even those changes have left lasting impacts. In Clarksburg, families rezoned out of their expected schools are still deeply upset. Even the residents from the Ritchie Park, who were reassigned to RM decades ago, still express long-standing resentment now. Many continue to speak about the emotional toll and lasting mental harm they experienced from these redistricting decisions. These concerns should not be taken lightly.

well, they need to get over it. And it wasn't about the kids; it was about their home values. Of course, moving schools is not easy, but the kids will get over it if you let them. Your attitude impacts them more than anything else. Teach your kids to be resilient.

-HH resident with old time neighbors who still do talk about it. BTW, some of those kids who are now adults live in the RM cluster, and send their kids there.

Well if you are an HH resident you realize if your neighborhood goes back to Wootton you have walkable middle and high school, a safer environment, a better education, and your home value would increase by a lot. So not sure why you think staying at a busable school with a ton of overcrowding and lots of safety issues, and also lower home values is a positive. Because if you all don't move, Fallsgrove and King Farm will be moving out and RM will be even worse and your home value even less. Wake-up!

First of all, my neighborhood going back to Wootton is not an option and not going to happen. Some people are delusional.

Secondly, RM won't be crowded after the boundary change.

Third, while it's "walkable" to Wootton, I would not be thrilled to have them walk through HH park in the winter at 7:15am. The snow on that path is not cleared. I think I know this neighborhood better than you do.

FG/KF is not the only higher SES in the cluster. All of the HS will look different after the boundary change. In any case, BOE doesn't care about home values. I don't know how many times I have to say it.

QO may become 13% FARMS and majority white again. That’s wild. It will could end up being higher performing than WJ

It's poor decision to create another Whitman. MCPS should figure out areas to include in QO for economic diversity.

WJ cluster is done depending on where you are located. If you are in Tilden area then proposed boundary will take FARMS to 35-45% in all options. Woodward will be another Einstein in all likleyhood.

Even North Bethesda area is having 30% FARMS in option 3. Entire WJ cluster may go down by a huge margin with option 3.

Even worse, they can't even walk out to Falls Rd and then walk up to Wootton because the Maryland, Montgomery County, and Rockville cannot figure out whose responsibility clearing the sidewalks along Falls Rd is. Rockville City says it is the state, since the adjacent route is MD-189. Maryland Highway Administration says they don't clear sidewalks. Montgomery County says they have nothing to do with it. Each snow storm, the snow there stays there until it melts, usually all the way up from Kersey across 270 to Great Falls Rd/Maryland Ave.

Which option makes this 13 percent FARMS in QO HS?

I am lost in all 4 options.

Option 4 is the most extreme one which definitely has no chance.

Extreme for who? What school are you at?

Option 4 makes a lot of sense to me. It is the best option by far.

Either way, we all know the reason it doesn't work is because of all the split articulations. This happens because they left ES out of the scope of the study. Let's go to the root cause of the problem and solve it there.

Which ES or MS get split articulation problems in option 4?

Ritchie Park is split in half still in option 4. Kids lose half their friends in a school that is already small.

Also how does any of this work for CES assignments? Right now, it's by cluster/cluster group. For example, if you go live in Falls Grove and go to Richie Park, your CES enrichment location would be Barnsley. Would that stay that way in an option that splits the Fallsgrove Island out to Crown? I'm sure other situations like this exist. It's as if the BoE didn't have a clue what they were doing and just pulled a DOGE by telling AI to make a boundary map

Some of the splitting is less than ideal but it probably works for everybody except for Falls Grove.

20-30 ES are split in option 4.
