My daughter just turned one and I am wondering when can she stop wearing onesies under her clothes (or am I th only one that does this?).
When she was born, my mom and MIL both insisted that she wear a onesie under her clothing. Seemed more logical in cold weather, but now that the weather is warming up, I still feel she needs to wear one out of habit. In fact, the MIL bought her a few more in the 18 month, XL size (how big do these get????). Thoughts? |

My little one, almost 2, is still in them...I base my children's wardrobe on my own and then add one layer. the layer I add is the cotton onesie....my hands and feet are always chilly and I try to remember, "heat rises", so it must be a little cooler down where they are!
I didn't use them in the dead of summer with #1 cuz he is a sweaty sweaty kid! |
| I have actually seen onesies up to size 4T which is a little freaky to me! I have a 10 month old and I think as the weather gets warmer, we will transition him out of onesies to regular shirts, and then probably won't go back to onesies again even when it gets colder in the fall. |
| I continued using them while my daughter was in diapers (up to 2.5 yo) unless she was also wearing tights, shorts or pants. She is really scrawny and I hate the diaper hang look. |
| I stopped using onesies during the day when DD was around 2 yo, was potty trained, and at daycare. The back flap would hang down into the toilet and got wet when she was at daycare. Otherwise, I continued to use them when it was cold and on weekends when I would take her to the potty and hold up her flap. |
| I'm not sure I understand. My 10-month oldis wearing a turtleneck with crotch snaps (so a loing sleeved onesie) and jeans. Do you put a onesie under that too? |
| I stopped using them when I started potty training my daughter. |
| My son will be 3 the end of this month and I still use them at night because he still wears a diaper at night. I use regular undershirts during the day. During the summer, I would say it's too hot for a onsesie under an outfit. |
| Any time you like -- you're the Mom! My son is 2 and we stopped using onesies ages ago, though I can't remember exactly when. |
I have the long sleeved ones but put another shirt over it during the winter or in cold areas. |
| I've never really used onesies for their intended use, I guess. I put one on under my 15-month old daughter's shirt in chilly weather if it is something that will ride up, or under a sweater. Most of what I have now (in 18 mos size) are shirts (long, short and tutleneck) with snaps so she wears them as a shirt. I would definitely not use them as an extra layer in the summer as my daughter sweats easily. |
Me neither I guess. My son wears them as shirts all the time - rarely under anything except his jacket! |
| Are you serious? If this is the toughest problem you have than I would love to be in your shoes...just roll with it. If you have onesies that fit, an outfit that will keep your child warm/cool (depending on the weather and your activity) then fine - be glad you have an MIL that gives you onesies that fit. |
| I had my DS in onesies until we started potty training, at least in the winter when his belly might otherwise hang out and be exposed to the elements. I didn't use them in the summer, too hot. |
| My 2.5 year old daughter is still in them! She's has this fun little game now of taking off her pants and diaper at nap and bed time, but since she cannot undo the snaps on the onesie, we keep her in them. She's close to being potty trained, so we'll use regular tops then. But, until I can get her from her crib in the morning without a soaking wet (sometimes worse!) mess, she will stay in the onesie! |
