| Hi I am looking to buy my first Chanel bag. It will be my first real luxury bag as I have never really invested in anything that expensive before but I’m turning 40 this year so I really wanted something special for my birthday. I’ve heard that it can be quite hard to get hold of bags now. 😀any suggestions on a classic bag which will lasts a long time? I am thinking about a Chanel flap but I’ve heard that they are really hard to get! Thank you!! |

What are you talking about "hard to get hold of bags now"?
Just look on Saks or Nordstrom or whatever and see what speaks to you. What on earth is this question? We should decide what you like? |
|
you sound more obsessed with the chanel name
just go to saks or the hermes store & look around touch the leather |

Just get a channel flap in black caviar
Is nice and (cl /b)asic. And will last a long time They're everywhere |

| Don’t waste your money. Buy a fake one… |
| Do you really want to blow 10k on a small handbag? |
| A hand bag is not an investment. Chanel bags are for old ladies. It will make you look old and broke. |
| You can almost smell the moth balls when you look at them. |
| Don’t listen to those rude comments. If that’s your style, treat yourself! It’s true that some Chanel styles are hard to get so you really just have to go to a store to find out what their inventory is. I recently bought a jumbo flap in caviar leather (more durable than lamb skin) and the store had it in stock, no issues. I personally prefer a classic flap because it is more timeless than a seasonal bag, and for that price, I wanted something less trendy. I love my bag and wish you luck in your search. |
| Why do people still ask about luxury items on this site? You get nothing but scorn and contempt. |
I wouldn’t get one personally, but depending on how you use it, they can absolutely be an investment. I have a friend who bought one new, never used it and changed her mind, then sold it for 1k+ more (can’t remember how much more, But a lot) than she bought it a couple years later. But if you are buying it with the intent to actually use it and enjoy it more than once per year- no you will not make money on one showing wear and tear. |
You really should work on your internalized misogyny. Do you love and respect your Grandmother? |
| I found the most incredible bag at an antique store. It’s from the 50s, made in USA, real leather, beats anything Chanel could make. Cost me under $30. Look around OP instead of blowing 5-10k on a brand name. Put that amount into a savings calculator and see what it’s worth in 20-30 years. You’ll think twice before spending it on a bag. |
| I fly Italy and go to an artisan who makes my purses. Not carbon friendly but my look is perfect. |
