Medium to Large Southern Schools

Anonymous
DS has 4.0W. 8APs. 28 ACT. (Hispanic FWIW) Wants medium to larger school in south (including Texas). Political Science as Major. Good ECs focused on public service- congressional internship, Eagle Scout, consistent volunteer work) Was thinking UGA but hearing it is harder to get into. Likes state school feel but so many state schools are harder to get into from OOS. Need options.

UF....again it will be hard to get into.

OP's stats are much better than ECU or Costal Carolina. Both of those schools are viewed locally as safeties

NP. Those would be good safeties for her. Houston and Flu could also be added to safety category. The rest of list looks good.

As PP said...I answered the question a list of medium to large Southern Universities with a variety of admission standards that's how people create a sensible list. OP, Coastal Carolina also has rolling admission which makes it an even better choice for a safety.

If Wake Forest University is test optional, then it is well within reach for the OP's student.

Do we know which state the OP's student lives ?

OP. Virginia. And UVA out of reach but DS loved it. DS was lukewarm to JMU. We as parents liked W&M but also would be a big reach and not big school enough feel for DS.
