| Where do you normally buy salmon? We are in Potomac and I tend to go to WF to get ours, but it just isn't convenient to get there all the time. Are you buying salmon in the store or do you have it shipped to your house (have a friend who gets theirs from South Mountain Farm of all places and SM is getting it from AK). |
| Trader Joes. |
| costco |
| Balducci's |
| Costco wild salmon is the best. I typically hate most Costco items and rarely buy anything besides produce and paper products there- but the salmon is the best I’ve bought at any store accessible to me locally |
I like the Atlantic salmon from Trader Joes for slow roasting, and I like the frozen sockeye filets from Harris Teeter to make salmon burgers. The skin is already off. |
| Whole Foods frozen Atlantic salmon. I like Costco's better, but it's not close enough for me to go there regularly. |
| I usually order from one of the Alaska delivery services like Great Alaska Seafood or Vital Choice. There’s also a group at our farmers market that sells Alaska seafood, they’re really good. Costco also has decent frozen fillets. |
| Costco frozen salmon. |
| Costco, but only when wild salmon is in season (which it is now). I avoid farmed salmon. |
| Trader Joe's farmed Atlantic salmon. The barbeque cut (comes in 3 pre-cut pieces). I have tried every grocery store's and Costco's, and TJ's is by far the best. I don't like wild salmon as much and I think the TJ's wild salmon is especially stringy, so if you're committed to wild I would look elsewhere. |
Is this a Kirkland brand of frozen salmon filets? |
Assuming PP buys the same one I do, it’s the wild caught Alaskan sockeye salmon: https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-wild-alaskan-sockeye-salmon%2C-5-oz---7-oz-portion%2C-3-lbs.product.100441201.html |

O'Donnell's Market off of of Seven Locks Road. It's not the cheapest but we find that it is the best. Costco would be our second choice. The seafood section at Whole Foods (at least the one in the Kentlands) has gone downhill the past year or so. Bottomline: I highly recommend O'Donnell's Market. https://odonnellsmarket.com
They even have a counter and a few tables if you do not want to cook your own seafood at home and would rather eat there. |
NP here, I buy this one too. If I want fresh I usually buy from Teeter. |
