APS teacher assignments — when?

Do we get those the week before school starts? In ParentVue or how?

Depends on grade. For elementary we get a letter the week before school starts.

This, but the letters don’t always arrive on time. When my kid started K, we just had to show up at the orientation & ask which class she was in.

I got a hot tip from our 1st grade teacher from the past school year that the accounts are being turned over this week, so you should see a letter and a change in ParentVue soon.

She wrote us a very kind goodbye letter and let us know that the students would be assigned to their new teachers.

Hmmm, This probably depends on how crowded/how many kids are in each grade. Because people fail to register their children until the last minute, often they have to make last-minute changes, hire a new teacher, shift classes around, etc. in our 10+ years in APS we’ve never received teacher assignments before the end of August/ week before school starts.

Fair point - that was me: we are at ATS, so there is not likely to be a huge wave of late registrations.

The accounts were already turned over briefly in June. They reverted back for summer school which is based on last year’s grade level. Teacher assignments definitely never post until the week before school. Usually HS schedules show up a few days before school begins too.

If I was in charge of teacher assignments, I'd wait for that happy sweet spot where I minimize people complaining about the teacher assignment while not getting completely flooded with questions about the when we'll be assigning teachers. Seems like a week out fits that bill.
