Yard plants and water

I notice that as the summer heats up, all the weeds seem to grow healthy and strong. How come? Does it mean that the plants that I don't have to water the plants that i want in my yard and they will grow just as well?

What? No, if you have annuals or perennials that are still getting established, you need to water them, and get those weeds out of there to the extent that you can. They provide ground cover and can keep some moisture in the soil, but they also compete with your plants for moisture. Assuming you have perennials you’re trying to get establish, layers of cardboard (wet it down after you lay it down) and heavy mulch will bury/kill many weeds.

Yes if they are established native plants they should not need to be watered beyond normal rainfall
