If you do Target drive up.....

...do you click on the "I'm on my way" button before arriving at the store or do you double click and say "I'm on my way" and "I'm here" at the same time? Is it a faux pas not to click on "I'm on my way" to give staff more time to get your stuff. If it helps, I never order more then 10 items and most fits into 1 or 2 bags. I never gave it much thought and now I'm feeling guilty.

I think it’s best to give them some lead time.

I used to but on several occasions they brought it out before I got there. The first Time it happened I didn’t realize what was going on and I was waiting for my items in my car for about 20 minutes. I called the store and because they’re short staffed no one would answer. I had to physically go in the store and they said we came out and you weren’t here. I told him I had not clicked that I was there just I was on my way. But they didn’t seem to understand… Happened 2 other times. This is at the Falls Church route 50 location. (i’m positive I didn’t click to say I was there be because you have to verify your car type/color and where you want the bags).

Don’t feel guilty, but the “I’m on my way” click lets them pull the items from the back and have them ready to go to your car when you pull up. Just use it as intended going forward.

This exact thing has happened to me as well. Annoying.

It's annoying because they basically expect you to use the app while driving.

If you click through the whole thing at the same time, the app chides you that next time you should let them know that you're on your way, so now I try to tell them I'm on my way when I leave. Then you input your space number where you get there. Sometimes they are already outside waiting for me when I get there (I'm about 8-10 min away).

Yes huge faux pas not to click I’m on my way. They only have two minutes to get it to you once you click you are here. They likely aren’t sitting around waiting for you to get there so they have to come back inside grab your stuff and then bring it back out. Plus there are likely people ahead of you. They get docked for not bringing it in 2 minutes.

If this is true, it's not at all apparent on the app that it's supposed to be used 2 minutes out.

I think it’s meant to reduce your waiting time if you use it as intended. I don’t think the staff really cares. I could be wrong tho!

I think PP means that the employee is supposed to have the products delivered within 2 minutes once the customer clicks the "I'm here" on the app. That's their internal goal and missing the goal too many times is bad for their individual performance.

My DD worked at Target for ~9 months and did mainly curbside.

If I remember I will click "I'm on my way" first but I don't always remember. However when you get there it asks what stall number you are in after you click "I'm here." I've never had my things waiting for me outside. But I've never clicked that I was there when I wasn't.

The "Im on my way" only gets your things to you faster if you don't have any refrigerated items.

They aren't going to pull out the milk and eggs until you hit the "I'm here."

Whole Foods has you do 10min before, so I do about the same with Target. Notice doesn't seem to make a difference either way.

I do it ahead of time, and also have had the experience of them being out waiting for me - I feel badly! But I have also had to wait for quite a while at a location that seems to have staff problems.

I also do it for Whole Foods and if I am not there in 8 mins, I have had them phone me to ask where I am!!!!! I suppose they have to time it right to get the cold food out, but I usually feel rushed!
