MCPS didn't report two stabbings in time

How can it be that Edward Clarke, Montgomery County Public School Chief Safety Officer, who was the former director of the Maryland Center for School Safety, was unaware the timeline reporting requirements?

Not surprising, unfortunately.

And yet people will vote in droves tomorrow for the incumbents on the Board of Ed who provide zero oversight to MCPS personnel and simply do what they're asked by the Superintendent and her staff.

School officials reported the stabbing but did not hold an after-action meeting and review within 45 days. Realize that 45 days is the maximum timeframe set by the state. It took MCPS four months and six months to have the after action meetings.

It’s blatant incompetence that Mr. Clarke didn’t know a key responsibility for student safety in MCPS but the bigger issue is why in the case of a potential life threatening event on school grounds that these meetings are not an urgent priority by Dr. McKnight and her staff? Don’t they want to make improvements, improve response, and prevent a repeat incident?

Are you people really that dumb? Your title is so misleading. From the link

The Maryland Center for School Safety must be notified of any “critical, life-threatening incident” that takes place in a public school within 24 hours after the school learns of the incident. MCPS did notify the state in the proper time.

However, school officials then must hold an after-action meeting and review within 45 days. This did not happen concerning the two stabbings. The review was held in the required time concerning a shooting in the bathroom of Magruder High School that left one student seriously injured.

The stabbings were reported on time, but "school officials then must hold an after-action meeting and review within 45 days".

I looks like it did not. But who is going to hold who accountable?

Delaying works in favor of MCPS and appears to be the method of choice to time out the clock when MCPS is at fault somehow and they're worried about getting sued. If the victim is reading this thread, I'd encourage you to open the case now with an attorney directly to Maryland Court. Don't file complaints with MCPS, since they'll just get buried. You can file for an extension or trial delay since MCPS is dragging their feet. I would also file the MPIA's for all MCPS reports and files and ensure you have an attorney willing to conduct a thorough discovery and not just bury the case.

And this is why we need a new board of education folks. No one is holding MCPS accountable. People need to be fired.

And didn’t do an after action report and didn’t notify the governor. Are you that stupid that you can’t read the law? Are you Ed Clarke?

Are you that stupid that you can’t read the article?MCPS didn’t hold a meeting, didn’t do an after action report and didn’t notify the Governor
Under the law. Maybe you are Ed Clarke and can’t do your job.

DP but you're really the stupid one. The title of this thread says " MCPS didn't report two stabbings in time" but according to the article, they did report them on time. They did not hold the "after-action" & review within 45 days. That's different from reporting the stabbings. So yeah, the title of this is thread is clearly misleading.
Either you playing dumb or you're actually that dumb to recognize that.
