I have the original paperwork on my engagement ring- clear diamond, platinum band, and appraised at $25k.
Any idea as to how to go about selling it? And what amount I might get? |
| You won’t get 25k. That much I know. I would ask some jewelers. |
| You might get between 6-10k. |
But how much did it really cost? Jewelry appraisals are seldom reality. Take it to an actual jeweler and see what they’ll give you. |
| “Clear” is not a diamond grade. Did it ever have a GIA certification? |
| Diamonds are a scam and so are the appraisals. You’ll never get anything close to that in cash. |
| Donate it and use the appraisal for a tax deduction. The tax savings could be greater than what you’d get for selling it. |
Op: yes, I have the GIA certification. It says rectangular modified brilliant, 1.51 carats, clarity grade is VS1. Color grade is F. |

You can try this site: https://www.idonowidont.com/
|
| Go on price scope and reddit and get advice there, the richy rich mamas on here aren't going to help you. |
First, look at James Allen and find a comparable stone to find retail price. Then it on Loupe Troop with those details and excellent photos for 80% of the James Allen price and see if you get any bites. Taking a very quick peek I would list it at $10k to start. |
|
OP you will get maybe $6000 if you are lucky.
Tons of online shops to put it up. It will take time to sell. Otherwise, go to places like Diamond exchanges. Like I said it won't be worth anywhere near $25,000 |
| See if you can consign it. If not, 3k. |
| What everything else said. But I’m sure you know this. |
| Diamond values are articulacy inflated, they’re a total scam and a manufactured social tradition |
