Have any wealthy Republican donors, politicians or talking heads NOT sent their kids to college?

I'm trying to understand this anti-college strain of the right wing apparatus. Daily Wire's Matt Walsh has young children and I would bet anything he sends them to private school and will then send them to the best private college they can get into. Similar to Fox's Tucker Carlson, who constantly rails against college on his show but sent all of his own kids to boarding school and Virginia's flagship UVA (after trying to get his only son into Georgetown). I could go on and on.

What is fueling this choreographed posture? Is this because so much of the right wing base is non college grads? Is this all a con to demonize college and keep college student loan forgiveness off the table?

Matt Walsh didnt go to college and thinks it doesnt have good ROI for most people. He isnt wrong. The calculation about college is different for a multimillionaire than it is for a middle class family.

Yes they are hypocrites and elitist liars that pander to their base.

College is just a signaling mechanism. It has no real value otherwise except for Ph.D. scientists and researchers who make a career of it.

Exactly. Trump said he loved the uneducated because he knew only stupid people would vote for him.

I think the key phrase in his statement is “plunge yourself into debt.”

Agree 100 percent that many people taking out loans for minimally useful degrees would be better off pursuing a trade or military service.

Hannity's kids went to two different top 30 US News colleges.

Dont PhD scientists and researchers make really low salaries though? It seems like finance, economics, and cyber security or software engineering would be more valuable in the job market.

Idiotic statement. It's just keeping the base focused on how their lack of education is a supposed benefit. So they can feel understood by wealthy, educated people who need the un-undereducated to stay in power. Gotta keep people voting against their interests just the way their Foxy puppetmasters tell them.

Exactly.

I went to college and wish I didn’t. Grew up with we off doctor parents so it was expected. Turns out I’m a blue collar guy at heart and would rather be a plumber — anything but spending any time sitting at a computer or desk.

Are you actually a plumber, or is this a fantasy of how life coulda, shoulda gone, if only? It's not too late to quit & start over. Why haven't you?

I’m 29 and I have almost a million saved up in addition to a cash flow producing rental because of luck — dumb yolo’s I made in college, plus I bought a house in Charlottesville next to UVA with a 70k inheritance from my grandmother back in 2011 when I was fresh out of high school and it’s been a cash cow. Plan I to keep grinding at my job I hate for another 5 years, buy another rental or two, and quit and retire / pursue my hobbies full time.

So this is just a fantasy about how you would have had a better life as a plumber?

+1 Now that they've succeeded in taking away abortion rights and boosting gun rights, they can focus on another item on their agenda - destroying public education, including colleges.
