Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
|
Patrick Murphy was appointed as the MCPS deputy superintendent today (the position formerly held by Dr. McKnight herself). He just retired as superintendent in Berkeley County, WV, and had previously been superintendent in Arlington and an administrator in Fairfax.

| Head over to the VA schools other than FCPS forum and ask the Arlington folks about Murphy. |
They didn't seem very impressed with him. |
DCUM gonna DCUM!
|
A disaster is how they describe the performance |
| The McKnight haters should keep this in mind if they think firing her will magically solve all their problems... |
Each new superintendent cleans house. |
You can fire people every year if you want, it's just going to make MCPS much less attractive to any top tier candidates. |
New candidates will be an improvement over what we have seen during past year. Teachers are quitting, students are frustrated no support from central office. There is too much drama and no substance. |
12 years total experience as Superintendent plus the perspective of being outside the MCPS training pool are all positive points for this hire. I wonder why he didn’t want the Superintendent job though. |
They would be against anyone. The only thing that would satisfy them as end of public education. |
It's the second time she's cleaned house, though. She did it when she was made interim. |
How do you know he didn't? |
Sanity. I figure more people don’t want the job than do at this point. Its stressful and doesn’t have the prestige of being a major city. |
| Pat Murphy may have lasted a long time in Arlington, but he was not well liked or respected by many people in that system. |
