I’m looking for someone to work one on one with my 11 year old son on his baseball pitching and hitting. He plays a rec league and has a lot of talent but lacks self confidence. If anyone knows a clinic where someone would be available to hire I’d appreciate the info. We are in bethesda.

OP asked for coaching/training. Not a travel team.

Unrelated, their 13 and 14U teams are really, really good.

If OP's kid is 11 now, wouldn't he be in U12? Is U12 good?

11u is 11 and under in baseball. Nonetheless, not sure what PP is talking about. All of their teams are pretty good. Some are the best in the inner loop easily.

I recommend Win Within over DC Dynasty (http://winwithinbaseball.com/) for a kid lacking in confidence. Win Within is very focused on long-term development for players vs Dynasty’s focus on winning and that’s reflected in both their clinics and their travel teams. My son played for both and his WW experience was much, much more positive while allowing him to become a very strong player. It’s the difference between a “build up” vs “tear down” culture. Some kids can do well with the latter, but not a player who already lacks confidence. The skills taught will be the same so look for an affirming culture.

Kid could also be on a 12u team, depending on his birthday.

Our son worked with Leonardo Buccello, a local grad student who played college baseball. Super nice guy, great teacher. 301-828-8366

Rude. My kid is 11u and plays their team. Very nice coaches, which is more than I can
Say for many of the Fairfax County/Fauquier county teams.

Couldn’t disagree more. My son has played with Dynasty for over 6 years. Very focused on fundamentals and not at all focused on winning. Very weird comment. Did you actually play on a team? We have a lot of friends that play WW. They are okay, sort of halfway between Dynasty and Little League. In fact, a few years ago WW cut 50% of their team that had been playing together for years to replace them with “higher quality” players to better compete. With Dynasty, once you’re in, you’re in. 3-4 of the players on the WW team that was cut and went to Dynasty.

Have you looked into the local baseball academies?

Hate to break it to you but our son was cut from a Dynasty team (within the last two years) - because he wasn’t “good enough” - all I can say is it’s good until it isn’t…he was cut with a week before the season started leaving us with no team to play for and ultimately missing a whole fall season - it was a mess and they handled it very poorly - I will never forgive them for the mental number they did on our son, which took him a whole year to recover from and for him to love baseball again. We are with another team now and much happier.
