GDS campus plan

Anonymous
While the expanded GDS campus is amazing, I wish that the mixed-use commons expansion along Wisconsin Ave would move forward. City Ridge, Upton Place are nearing completion but the part of Wisconsin near GDS is pretty dull and boring. I understand that the school put the commons development on hold for a while to get the core campus rebuilt. It would be great to get this going, to create a vibrant mixed-use center for students, parents and the community to gather. Tenleytown is looking tired and is in desperate need of renewal. A win-win-win!

Not a priority. The new activist Center is as well as upper school Reno’s plus fundraising.

My understanding is that the ANC is slowing development.

Thank you for moving my GGW bingo card along:

- vibrant
- renewal
- mixed use
- gather (double points!!)
- community

[not sure what to do with "win-win-win", that must be on the newer edition of the Development Bingo that I don't yet own]

The mayor is pro-development. Would Matt Frumin move it forward. It seems to me that the Tenleytown neighbors should be thanking GDS for its vision and commitment to invest in the community, which is anything but vibrant. Instead, it seems that some would rather cling to their mattress stores and fast food stands than partner with GDS for a progressive future.

Didn't GDS try to bring some mixed use development to Wisconsin but the neighborhood said no?

Yup. But the wisconsin area is still 100x better than their old palisades area. That part of town was so NIMBY that safeway decided to leave. Matter of time before all retail closes up over there.

You are hilarious. You do remember what was on the lot where GDS built their new building?

My understanding is that GDS is dragging its feet and blaming the ANC.

Nope, not the ANC. It is the Mayor's friend who lives in the across the street building who doesn't want their view altered.

The ANC and broader community were all for the new GDS development.

Frumin supported the GDS development and also supported the Safeway redevelopment that was prior to.

GDS’s next major investment will be renovating the high school.

Is there a development that Frumin hasn’t supported?
