Covid & Exercise

If you had Covid, what did exercise look like once you recovered? I finished a round of paxlovid and started lifting and cycling. It’s been slightly rough starting back. I had a sharp chest pain but seemed to be ok. My cycling endurance and intensity is not as good. How long did it take to get back to pre-infection levels? TIA!

I had OG Covid and didn't really notice anything (was pretty asymptomatic until I lost my senses of taste & smell which caused me to test). I kept up my regular routine - running/lifting and basically didn't stop. This spring I started traveling for work again and got what I believe to have been another Covid infection (didn't bother to test bc I had no plans) - this time sore throat, dry cough, slight fever and lack of energy. It's been about a month and I've just stared running again. FWIW I am fully vaxxed and boosted.

There have been a couple threads on this. Here’s one: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1031649.page#21825978

No issues. I didn’t exercise while I was feeling unwell, but as soon as I felt normal ( day 5ish), I re-started home workouts and went back to gym after day 10. Slightly fatigued for home workouts likely due to not caught up on hydration, but I recovered quickly

Thank you those addressed the first half of my question.

Just recovering from Covid, and I worked out everyday at home. I wanted to keep my lungs expanded so it was important for me to keep moving. Helped keep me sane during the recovery.,

Take it easy on your heart! I'd slow down for a bit. COVID is rough on the body.

I felt better on day 7 and worked hard outside in the heat. Had a heart attack. Please let your body rest and recover.

Someone else posted that they had a heart attack on Day 7 at work. Same person? Just curious how common this is. It's freaking me out a little (although I'm 3 weeks past covid now).

I know heart troubles are in the range of normal but I’ve heard way more stories about erratic heart rates/weird spikes from minimal exercise than actual heart attacks. This paper focuses on long Covid people, so it’s going to be way higher than the average population, but hopefully can give you some sense: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(21)00299-6/fulltext#%20

I had tachycardia during and post COVID so I had to be very careful with exercise. I ended up seeing a doctor.

Since you took something to help you recover, i would expect it to take longer for you to get back to normal.

I had Covid in April - felt good after a week, but found my old stamina for walking had not returned. I pooped out after a mile and had to rest.

This went on for several weeks. I decided not to push myself.

I was back to normal in terms of stamina about 6 weeks, post covid.

Has taken me about a month to even think about doing cardio. I started with light weightlifting about 7 days out, then normal weights a week later. The fatigue really stuck with me for a while, and now that I feel better my kids have the flu - hoping I don’t catch it.
