Am I the only one who hates the beach?

It’s awful.
I can’t be the only one.

I personally love the beach, but know several people who don't like it because of the sand, salt water, and/or sun.

So dull. I hate it. Unfortunately, my whole family loves the beach. Ugh.

Nope. Boring and way too hot. I can take the beach for a few hours (not my favorite), but I can't imagine spending more than a day at the beach. And worse, paying money to vacation there.

So boring!

I like walking on a beach, but that’s about 90 minutes max. I also prefer cooler days vs hot.

Definitely don’t enjoy beach sitting and I don’t even like reading while I’m there

I finally figured out how I like the beach: half-day trip, sitting on a bench facing the sand and water, but not going in. I get the benefits of sandy wind exfoliating my face, I get the relaxation of watching the waves and the water, I sit reading a book away from crowds, and then I go home when I need the bathroom or am ready for lunch.

Only in the evening otherwise it’s too damn hot and sunny for me.

Another beach hater. Though I love rocky shore lines, like off the coast of Maine.

I like the beaches in Hawaii. Not the beaches near DC.

Yes, you are the only one…except there are at least four of these threads each and every summer.

During the pandemic, I learned that I prefer lakes to beaches. Especially if you can put your chairs on a dock instead of sand.

You're in good company. My only recent beach vacation was in 2021 during the pandemicy. It was as awful as I thought it would be.

Mountains all the way!!!

I like a cool, cloudy beach to take long walks on.

I hate strong sun, and heat. Lying on the beach for hours sounds like boring sweaty hell to me. I'd much rather be in the mountains.

I hate sitting at the beach during the day. I can't stand the sand everywhere, the heat, too many people. But I do love our beach trips for other reasons. I love the boardwalk and playing arcade games and eating greasy fries. I love the thunderstorms and going to the movies, the fresh seafood restaurants, miniature golf. I even love walking on the beach barefoot after dark.
