Peloton App - Classes & Instructors?

Anonymous
I just subscribed to the peloton app for a three month trial; I do not have the bike.

Who are your fave instructors and what are your fave classes?

I’m trying to get back into lifting and strength but would welcome recs about any of the offerings.

Andy's strength program is great, it moves at a good clip. He is a bit corny but the classes are solid and the structure is solid.

Jess Sim's is great but all of her classes are tough.

There is a Facebook group called Hardcore on the Floor that is pretty awesome. They put together a monthly calendar of strength classes.

Join Hardcore on the floor on Instagram or Facebook. It’ll take the guesswork out of planning your workouts and you’ll get to know many instructors and who you like best.

Under programs, tunde arms just dropped and is supposed to be amazing. Also under programs, Emma’s crush your core (and CYC2) is a great starting point.

I also don't have any of the Peloton equipment but I do have a spin bike and treadmill. I like all of Jess Sim's classes but as someone noted, her classes are all pretty tough.

For yoga, I like Denis Morton and Aditi's classes. If you're a serious runner, Becs Gentry has good speed, interval workouts.

Thirding Hardcore on the Floor, since it takes the planning out of the process and introduces you to a variety of instructors.

For strength, I'm loving Daniel. He loves working out and is happy to be there, and plays mainly hip hop and EDM. Matty is a lot fun, too. He plays lots of pop and tells you different stories about his life; he's like a very positive workout buddy. Erik is fantastic, but he only teaches in German.

On the bike, I love love love Bradley. He has a goofy sense of humor but is very kind and positive. He also has a lot of great music.

Becs and Matt Wilpers are my favorite for running, since they're focused on teaching you about the mechanics of running, which I enjoy; Matty is great for walking.

Another vote for hard core on the floor. I like Matty, Adrian and Rebecca K for strength training.

For strength I’ve always enjoyed Hannah Corbin and Emma love well’s classes. They reminded me the most of flybarre, which I loved back in the day.

There are no bad instructors so it kind of depends on what you are looking for. Other than echoing the above recs for hard core, my favorites are:
Andy
Adrian
Rad
Daniel
Robin
Selena (esp for lower body)

If you run, check out the outdoor running/walking. If you tell us more about what you like in an instructor, I can add suggestions of names.

The HardCore group is great because it forces you to try a lot of content.

If you don’t go that route and enjoy traditional weightlifting - I would say Andy, Adrian and Rebecca are for you.

I really like Ben Alldis's strength classes. He's very low-key and straightforward. Great if you're just getting back into exercise.

OP here, thanks everyone. I’ve joined the hardcore on the floor group, I started the Strength for Beginners program and have supplemented with some corr classes (the program is only 2/week in early weeks). I’ll begin picking up HCOTF sessions as I progress. The classes I’ve taken have been great and manageable so far and I’m excited to get back in some semblance of shape.

I didn’t gain weight in covid but all of my muscle tone just depleted and somehow I was completely clueless.

When doing Hard Core on the Floor, add in a post-class stretch. 5-10 minute classes based on the muscle group you worked that day. Also Yoga on Thursdays and Sundays help with recovery. I love all of the yoga instructors, especially Chelsea, Kirra, Aditi, Dennis and Ross.

LOVE the stretches. Life changer. Ben Alldis has good, simple ones.
Foam rolling is also amazing.
