I am hoping to learn about whether and how top companies and government agencies deliver chauffeur services to senior management.
If your company, organization, or agency offers chauffeur services to senior executives, how is the service delivered? Specifically, is the service provided by in-house resources or outsourced to a service provider? Also, does your company own a fleet for this purpose, or are vehicles leased or belong to a service provider)? If your organization uses service providers for executive transportation, are there any that you would recommend in the DMV area? |

Outsourced in my company to keep costs down.
However, from a security perspective, a best practice in executive protection is for protectees like the CEO to be transported door-to-door using in-house drivers trained in surveillance detection and evasive driving. The cost of this approach is high, so it's not common except among the most security-aware larger companies. |
| PS. Some government agencies provide security details to their agency head. Those details provide door-to-door transportation using official vehicles, often more than one in a small motorcade motorcade. The details consist of law enforcement personnel trained in executive protection. |

Carey Limo is what most C-level Execs use. My father worked there. He drove tons of celebs, politicians and CEOs.
Actors in Broadway plays and TV shows, senators, CEOs etcs. He drove at least 100 plus famous people |
Omg that is so cool! Some questions: 1. Who was the nicest person in each category? 2. Did he make a fortune in the stock market off the tips he overheard from the CEOs? 3. Did he appear in any music videos? |
Julie Andrews was nicest. He drove her every day to and from hotel while on Broadway. He would escort her into building and into restaurants. She liked to eat lunch near theater on matinee days and often my Dad had lunch with her. She really can’t eat alone. Ted Kennedy was worse. He threw up in limo drunk as a skunk. His wife Joan was also drunk j |

OP here. Thank you to all who responded! For agencies that provide chauffeur services to senior management, is it just to the agency head/CEO/president, or is a driver provided to one level below? If driving is part of the security detail/executive protection, is it only offered to the agency head?
Thank you also for the Carey Limo recommendation! Any other companies in the area to consider for diplomatic/executive transportation? |
| In government it’s usually for THE top person, with lowers considered if special circumstances. |
Usually just the top person, whether in gov't or in industry. Exceptions occur based on threat assessments. That is, heads of organizations have the highest profile and are presumptively the most likely targets for adversaries seeking to make a statement, but others may be targeted based on specific circumstances. An effective internal security organization monitors threats against the organization and it's executives, allocating protective resources accordingly. That may in some cases result in executive protection, including security chauffeurs and perhaps even other protective security detail personnel, being extended to specifically identified potential targets beyond the agency or organization head. Intelligence analysis should drive the nature of the protection provided, which may extend to residential security, or to increased facility security, instead of or in addition to transportation security. In some cases, transportation security can mean avoiding commercial air travel in favor of private, corporate, or agency-owned aircraft, as well as to automobiles or SUVs. Ground transportation may be even be armored when justified by the threat assessment. Carey is well-known for private transportation use. They are not known for security transportation, however. Security is a specialized discipline, and it would be best to consult with a qualified practitioner with respect to executive protection topics, including those which relate to executive transportation policies and practices. |
