No we have nothing on that. My theory is that they are saving her for a later episode where she is the classic disappointing parent, an antithesis to William the loving father returned.

Also I cry buckets over Randall, Beth and William and I'm left stony cold about all the others, particularly Kate who really is only interesting when she is screaming through yoga.

I thought the story was that she died during the birth?

Have they ever said what William did for a living, how he afforded his apartment, etc? Other than Jessie, we really never saw anyone from his life prior to living with Randall.

The girl they cast as the teenage Kate is remarkable!! Not only does she look just like the older Kate, but her voice and mannerisms are the same too. Same with teenaged Kevin, but to a slightly lesser extent. I like teenage Randall, but he doesn't resemble the older Randall at all, IMO.

We don't after he moved to Philadelphia. In Pittsburgh he told Rebecca the second time she visited that it was rent-controlled and that he got a job in a music store working on instruments. He got the job through one of his Narcotics Anonymous friends.

I thought she OD a month or so later.

Have been binge watching the entire season. Can't believe what a good guy William was before he met Randall's mom. Really sad.

I also was absolutely devastated by Randall's breakdown and Kevin running to his rescue.

I have to remind myself that this is TV.

Afraid to find out about Jack.

Is this the season finale? Very underwhelming so far and only 9 minutes left...

the most pathetic example of the decline of American culture

What happened??

So Randall's father fell into addiction once he got involved with Randall's mom and the adoptive dad fell into alcoholism due to pain from the mom. I don't like Rebecca right now, but I also hate how the women are the least likeable characters other than Randall's wife who is awesome.

What a disappointment the finale was!

agreed!

It would have been fine as a regular episode, but to end the season with that one was lame. So annoyed that we still don't know how Jack died.

Everyone I know raves about this show. I've watched three episodes now and it's just so over-the-top trying to pull your heartstrings dramatic. Not subtle enough for me. Should I keep trying? It's a time investment since episodes are an hour.

Did I miss something from the finale? My DVR cut off, seemed to end abruptly! Jack says why he loves Rebecca, and then, cut to commercial break? That was the ending?

I'm kind of pleased that the season went out on a somewhat downer note and one that didn't hinge on a shocker twist. The fight between Jack and Rebecca felt very real to me, so much so that while I was sad to see it, it hit home for rougher patches we had ourselves. So it wasn't a teak-jerker for me but a "Wow, even Jack and Rebecca get to this point" reaction. I also think that the last brief scenes with each of their three kids as adults approaching their own crossroads is fed by what happened in the past.
