What a bunch of BS, loser. |
I’m pretty sure that post was in jest in response to the “Ralph told me” nonsense post. Early assessment of how the thread will age would indicate the “it’s not being discussed and you are all idiots for thinking it is still in consideration” crowd has been proven to be half as smart as they claim to be. |

| First time commenting on here. Whoever writes these messages is pathetically sad and lame. To think that some of you are probably entrusted with high responsibility gigs and checks is beyond understanding |
| Lots and lots of MLS Next kids playing high school soccer around the DMV. To say otherwise would be not factual. Most on waivers at independent schools (questionable whether they are truly qualifying for the waiver or using it because its an option), but also some just doing in anyway knowing they won't get caught. Is it the majority-no, of course not. It's hard with the training schedule of both HS and MLS Next. But its waaaay more than a few. And, come playoff time, they all somehow come out of the woodwork miraculously. |
| Nobody can stop ECNL from changing to GY. It will bring a lot of value to ECNL, so they will do it. After ECNL makes the move, GA has to follow or die. |
I don’t know why anyone cares if MLSNext players play in HS. I’m assuming parents who’d like their not so good soccer player to make the team? I mean if it helps the school team win, why not? |
Flat out lie There aren't lots of MLS Next kids playing HS Only some. Just keep in mind there are only a few MLS Next clubs in the DMV. Its not hard to find out the truth. |
Why would you want your kid overtraining and creating a high risk factor for injuries by playing HS and MLS Next simultaneously? HS alone with the crazy physical training loads and gladiator games because of lesser talents is enough risk by itself. |
But that’s the players decision. It’s totally no one’s business what others do for their training. So the annoyance about it has more to do with them taking up spots then concern for their training. And frankly, the ones I know who do both aren’t going to all HS and club trainings. They usually have coaches willing to accommodate them. With the number of MLSNext games scheduled now, for sure, an MLSNext player is going to think hard about whether they want to play in HS or not. I imagine the ones who don’t get much playing time in MLSNext will do it more often. But for those MLSNext players playing two games a weekend and playing most of time, adding a HS schedule would be pretty tough. |
ECNL works around the HS soccer season so it isn't an either or. |
Yep- that’s how it’s easy to know there are not a handfull/ a few. All the players on these HS teams know who they are. It’s a small world here in the DMV…6 MLS clubs x 4 age groups. It doesn’t matter much in the scheme of things except for the holier than thou attitude from some on these boards that MLS players universally could care less about playing with friends in HS… |
MLS Next players “care” about playing in HS so they can show off pretty much in front of their friends. It has no effect on their decisions regarding which league/club best suits their college or pro ambitions. |
| I think many supporters of this move are just thinking that their kid can go from being one of the youngest to being one of the oldest in play. And they probably need it because they aren’t that good. |
And the corollary is that the others worry that their kid will go from oldest to dropped. Inheritantly, everyone seems to know that being towards the oldest has advantages (better teams, coaches, playing time, etc.) The "new" older kids will be relatively because they are relatively older (nobody has argued they are actually better, btw). Just standard relative age effect during all ages of youth sports. |
