| We're going on a few trips this summer, will need to fly. Kids are 2 and 3. Does anyone have those rolling suitcases the kids can sit on or they can pull? They seem great in theory but is it a PITA getting through the airport with two more bags? We haven't flown much with them because of covid so trying to figure this out. Thanks! |
| A rolling suitcase for a toddler is awful in theory, and practice. You’re asking for more trouble than what it’s worth. |
I would use a stroller. |
Do you have one? |
| Have you ever seen those tiny grocery carts at the stores for kids? You see how the toddlers are rolling around, going at a snail‘s pace, bumping into people? Well, it’s the same thing except in a suitcase form. |
| Some of them are so cute, but don't fall for it. It's just a hassle on vacation. We've found that the most space efficient procedure is to merge everyone's stuff together and use backpacks when they're little, then for the kids to carry their own backpacks. |

We got one and returned it when DD fell off it in our house.
Airports are insanely crowded right now. |

My girls get one like this when they're toddlers: https://www.amazon.com/Toddler-Backpack-Rolling-Suitcase-Luggage/dp/B07MBYJ59F/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2EH6WU4I6PJE3&keywords=toddler%2Brolling%2Bsuitcase%2Bfor%2Bgirls&qid=1655261579&sprefix=rolling%2Btoddler%2Bsuit%2Caps%2C131&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySDJBVjdKNEFHUlFZJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjk4MTg2MU9USzdTREY3TkFXWSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwOTk0MDkyMkIySzlIM1pPOUNMTiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1
After the first one face-planted the new rule was they're not allowed to run with it. Works great. |
| Not for a toddler. It will slow them down. |
Np with two older kids. My kids couldn’t handle having their own rolling suitcases until they were maybe 7.. They get distracted, they don’t pay attention, they run people over, drop the handles, they are SLOW. Get them backpacks. |
Yes!! This is a great analogy. |
7?! Holy crap, mine have all gotten them when they've turned 3, with no problems. Forget getting them backpacks, get better kids! |

We got my niece this one https://www.stokke.com/USA/en-us/travel/jetkids/5345.html?dwvar_5345_color=99&cgid=39721&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhqaVBhCxARIsAHK1tiPQ-UTZLFJ8X1mN6UBociT60JMmXNKmSQ7hw2wzqHQKMjf7jA26Zf0aAvRcEALw_wcB#start=1
When she was three and she liked riding it while being pulled, and later pulled it herself. This was a few years back though and now some airlines don’t allow them in the seat which was the whole point (and made for such a good flight experience we recommended them to people…) |
| The last time we travelled, we used one of these for our 3 year old, and it was great for navigating around the airport. https://microkickboard.com/products/luggage-eazy-config |
| Get them a backpack for entertainment on plane and change of clothes, put their other clothes with yours |
