| This isn't a political post, so posting here -- Is Al Gore III doing OK? Whatever happened to author Karenna who married that nice rich dr Schiff? You just never hear about them at all. |
| Karenna divorced her husband long ago. |
| Karenna and the Schiff doctor divorced. I remember because we shared the same wedding date and I always followed their family news. |
| On July 12, 1997, she married Andrew Newman Schiff,[27] a primary care physician in Washington, D.C., and great-great grandson of Jacob Schiff, at the Washington National Cathedral.[28][29] Andrew Schiff now works as a biotechnology fund manager.[30] They have three children together: Wyatt Gore Schiff (born July 4, 1999, in New York City),[31] Anna Hunger Schiff (born August 23, 2001, in New York City),[32] and Oscar Aitcheson Schiff (born in 2006).[33][34] She and husband Andrew separated in 2010 and later divorced.[35] |
| I believe all the daughters divorced and at least one is on a second marriage. |
| Looking at the Gore kids' bios now, it seems like at least 3/4 graduated from Harvard (not sure about Sarah). Let's assume there was some sort of legacy/name thing that worked in their favor then ... Does the same sort of influence still work today -- or have we moved beyond that in the past 20-30 years? (Sorry if this question is naive; I'm genuinely wondering.) |
| Off topic a bit, but watching the Hulu Series Candy, the victim's husband was named Alan Gore and they kept referring to him as Al Gore which was kind of funny. Good show by the way. |
| A quick google shows that Karenna is working at an environmental NGO. Good for her! |
He has subsequently remarried. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/25/fashion/weddings/alexandra-wolfe-andrew-schiff.html |
I went to law school with her - she was really nice (and smart) and he was really cute (back then, lo these decades ago). I didn't stay in touch with her but I hope she's doing well. Can't have been fun to see her parents' problems be so public. |
Goodness, he really has a physical type! |
| Yes, if your dad is Vice President, you get into Harvard. Even in 2022. |
^ I guess more than a physical type - daughters of famous men (who are serious people themselves, as well) |
Omg! I guess he has a specialty in daddy issues. |
If you are a run-of-the-mill legacy (i.e. your parent went to an Ivy but they are not influential or very wealthy) then that doesn’t carry as much weight as it used to. But if your parent was Vice President, yes, Harvard will accept you. That will be true forever. |
