Drive thru: Um so we can't do your cup in the drive thru.
Me: Ok, I"ll just come inside. Me: I'd like a tall pike place. *puts reusable coffee cup down* Barista: Do you want it in this cup? Me: Yes please. Barista: *come back with paper cup full of coffee, dumps as much as possible into the reusable cup* Me: *mouth agape...* Barista: Uh, here *gestures at my cup which is absolutely full to the brim and cannot be closed* |
| Have you heard of Covid? |
| wait, people actually take reusable cups to the store? That’s gross op. I would have done the same thing |
| Total thing of the past |
| That’s so 2019. |
Nobody was wearing a mask in there except me. |
I don't even know what this means. I just don't want to be drinking my coffee out of plastic lined paper. |
| They stopped allowing you to use a personal cup in 2020 COVID. I used to always use reusable cups at Starbucks, I would bring a clean cup from my home and have them fill it. Since we can’t use our own cups anymore, I know Loco go to Starbucks. All the Starbucks cups being sent to the landfill sicken me. I buy my coffee and brew my own |
This is Starbucks policy for the past 2 years? I've been going to my local coffee shop where they happily take my reusable cup, so I guess I never noticed. Unfortunately moved recently and there's no local coffee shop. |
I guess it's time for me to buy a coffee maker. |
The hot drinks are served in a paper cup. It breaks down very fast. |
| So you held up the drive through line and then went and held things up inside too? |
Disposable coffee cups typically have a plastic resin, or polyethylene, lining. Polyethylene is a petroleum-based plastic, requiring more than 231,000 barrels of oil to line our paper cups every single year. |
There was nobody behind me. I didn't hold up the line because I wasn't waiting for a drink. I was the one stuck behind a car. I didn't hold anything up inside. You realize getting drip coffee is about the quickest drink order one can get at Starbucks, right? |

I used to use a reusable cup all the time at Starbucks, but they stopped allowing them during Covid. OP, I also prefer my own insulated cup to their paper one!
BUT! I read recently that they're bringing it back as part of an effort to get greener. Here's an article: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/15/starbucks-unveils-new-plans-to-eliminate-single-use-cups-encourage-reusable-mugs.html |
