Son about to turn 12 and nothing yet. Curious what age other boys started growth spurt?
Between 15 and 19 he grew from about 5’4 to 6 feet
My son had a 5” growth spurt at 15 that was so rapid it resulted in horizontal stretch marks on his back. He is now 18 and hasn’t grown more than a half inch since then. He’s 5’11”
My kid didn't really have a growth spurt. He grew 3 inches each year through elementary. In 6th and 7th grade he grew 4 inches instead. He's grown about an additional inch since 8th grade and is now in 11th grade. He was a tall 9th grader at 6 foot. Many boys have either caught up or surpassed him.
My DS grew through high school and college.
Huge height growth ages 10.5-12. Waiting to see if it slows down.
Mine started at 13.
DS almost 14, no growth spurt yet.
+1 |
Grew 6 inches in 5th grade (age 10-11) and his voice changed. But he is the only boy still (currently age 12) in his circle of friends who is this far along in puberty.
13-14 grew about 4 plus inches. Still 5'4" so he's hoping for another one soon!
12-13—grew about 8 inches
Not sure if this is based on data or anecdotal but a doctor once told me that kids who get their teeth late tend to grow more slowly.

Oldest DS grew a foot between 11 & 14 - from 5'2" to 6'2". He's 18yo now and has probably only grown another inch since then.
Younger DS is 13yo now and 5'7". No significant growth spurt until 12yo when he grew 6". He's always been 99% or above on the charts so I've been assuming he'll be as tall as his brother. But if so, it will be on a slower track. |

Mine grew about 8 inches between 10-12. Voice has dropped.
And as PP, at 12.5 he is further along re: puberty than most (not all) boys in his grade. |
