paying cash for a car?

Will you take 25k to a dealership if you're paying cash for a car?
Anonymous
I wrote a check or you can get a money order from your bank. Ask the dealership how to handle.

Like literal dollar bills? I just write a check.

Yes, Thanks

You generally need to get a certified bank check for close to the amount then regular check or credit card for the rest.

I put 10k down on my last car. I did it with my debit card.

We just wrote a personal check at the Subaru dealership. No big deal. Make sure you have enough in your checking account.

No! Don't carry that much cash on you ever!

Isn't the idea to accept the manufacturer's financing and then pay it off a week later?

So just use online bill pay.

Yes, they only accept cash in pennies.

A friend did that. Showed up with $40k in a backpack. Told the dealership they could keep the backpack. Boss move.

The dealership makes money on the financing, higher commission to sales reps if you finance. They are more likely to cut you a deal on the price if you finance.

Of course, who knows if that's the case these days with cars selling over MSRP.

Just right a check. The dealer can run a credit check on you in a matter of minutes. Just make sure you have the money in your account.
