Summer travel packing - is two outfits a day standard for before and after beach visits?

How many outfits do you pack for beach trips if you have regular activities like sightseeing before and meals after on many days?

I may be overpacking but is two outfits planned for a day should you go back out after the beach average? Beachwear consists of coverups and swimwear under do I don’t count those.

I re-wear the dinner outfits. So for a week it would be 3 dresses, not seven.

You must someone who travels with 10 suitcases.

One outfit, washed and reworn several times, for each “activity”: beach, house, town, other (usually sport). One bag. Done.

Morning outfit. Beachwear. After shower outfit. PJs.

I have never taken a trip like this. It honestly sounds like a really long day to go sightseeing, then change into swim stuff and pack up all the gear for only a few hours, then lug it all back, get all the sand off, showers and then sit through a dinner. I am more likely to do a day of sightseeing then a day of beach, etc. Also, are you driving or flying and do you have access to a washing machine or not? If driving and laundry access, bring whatever clothes you need. If flying and/or no laundry, try to minimize or re-wear (like 3 dress lady).

I’m an over-packer. If there is no washer available, I can’t do one pair of pj’s for a week. I also don’t rewear outfits without washing them. I hate packing.

Unless the morning outfit got gross from sweat, I’d rewear it for dinner.

This year we are going for 5 nights and will probably take 3-4 outfits each. The house we rent has a washer and dryer and we make use of it.

Pack cotton dresses that you can dress up a bit for dinner with shoes and accessories. If you put them on right after you shower in the late afternoon and only wear for 2 hrs at dinner, you can re-wear the cotton dress the next AM for your sightseeing with sandals or casual sneakers. Repeat each night/am.

After the beach day/shower I put on clean clothes. Then the next day if I need clothes before bathing suit time I wear those same clothes again. So it’s still just one outfit a day. I may throw in a dress or two but nothing fancy. I don’t go to the beach to dress up. Some days it’s literally pjs to bathing suit to shower back to pjs.

It’s interesting to me that as an adult you would need to ask what to pack.

since this is in general parenting, I am assuming it is a trip and not a vacation. With children, going out every night to a nice restaurant is not my idea of a fun time.

Bring two nice outfits and wear them alternating nights. No need to wear something different each night.

We bring a nanny on our trips, so that they CAN be a fun time.
