| Do people sell Italian ice from a pushcart like they do all over in New York? One of my favorite summer treats. I have never seen that here in Maryland. Wondering if that was a thing here or if I have to wait to go back to Brooklyn to get my ices fix. |
| I haven't seen Italian Ice but snowballs are still a big thing in the Baltimore area, including Howard County. Not so much in MoCo though. |
| You can try Rita's |
No, I miss Brooklyn
|
| I don't know if it's italian ice, but there's a guy who sells snow cones with syrup in front of the Anthropologie at Bethesda Row. Not sure if he's only there weekends. |
Rita's is great, but it's just not the same. Thank you! Was crossing my fingers. |
| Only in Virginia. Mt. Vernon Ave next to La Féria Grocery store. The guy parks outside with the ice cart. Rasta style is on the menu with the sweet cream on top. |
| Carmens in Rockville has carts that go to fairs and other outdoor events in addition to the stores (2) |
| I see the occasional paleta cart, but I’ve never seen one selling Italian ice. |
| There's a Hawaiin shaved ice cart that goes around downtown bethesda in the summer |
| Second Carmen’s - they are in Rockville and Olney. Custard and Italian ice inspired by Jersey shore. Delicious! |
| Yes Carmen's!! |
+1. They used to always be at the Barnes and Noble at Woodmont and Bethesda (at least once school let out) but then I think the guy passed the cart on to someone else and B&N closed so not sure if they are back (yet) |
|
I often see the Hawaiian shaved ice truck at cabin John playground in summer.
Another vote for Carmen’s but I also like Rita’s so what do I know! (Rita’s dark cherry layered with the vanilla custard…) |
Yes paletas are more of a thing here. |
