Luxury SUVs - any to avoid

Anonymous
Looking for a 2 two-row luxury SUV. Never bought a luxury car before - do we just decide which ones look nice and test drive them? Are some brands better than others? We currently only own Toyota and Honda.

By luxury I mean Lexus, Range Rover, Mercedes, Audi, etc.

Look online and see what you like and schedule a test drive. The big problem may be whether or not you can find the car you want.

I drive a luxury 3 row and my vehicle surpasses all others that i rarely notice but I saw the new Jaguar SUV the other day and it turned my head. The hot guy driving it helped, but it did get a notice out of me which is saying something.

Just bought a Lincoln Nautilus. The Corsair is nice, too. I test drove a bunch of the two row luxury SUBs. I was NOT planning to like or buy the Lincoln but we loved it! It’s super nice.

Land Rover/Range Rover make SUVs that are absolutely at the bottom in reliability for luxury brands. Strongly recommend not to get one of those. Lexus/Infiniti will not typically be as fast as BMW/Mercedes/Audi if you're willing to shell out the money for the speed. Some of the european model SUVs approach the 0-60 acceleration of sports coupes

Lexus isn’t luxury. It’s basic.

The Mercedes gle 450 is really nice, especially with the AMG package.

I’ve had range rovers for years. As long as you lease, they take care of any problems. I would not buy one.

I’ve also been liking the look of the new genesis suv. The tiger woods one. It’s pretty hot.

Volvo xc 90 is also nice.

Why does it have to be a "luxury" SUV? Why is that important to you?

We are getting our 2nd Porsche SUV. This time opting for the smaller one (Macan). Our Cayenne has been very reliable - over 125k miles. Only complaint is the cost of regular service.

We didn’t try any others this time. We did test drive several last time. Buying an SUV is just like buying any car. Check conumer Reports, test drive, decide, buy. Your choice might depend on if you are in a hurry. We have a 6+ month wait on the macan.

Some people buy their clothes at Target, others prefer nicer things. It's just like anything else in life

Jaguar, Land Rover, and Range Rover were all British built, which had so-so engineering. But then in 2008 they were acquired by Tata motors, which is not as storied a brand for quality or reliabilty.

Same with Volvo - it's owned by a Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
