infertility

So I had infertility issues and went to an infertitility clinic in NOVA, completely clueless as this was our first kid that there were doctors using their own sperm and all this horror story stuff. 9 years later and reading the news, how would I ever know? Or if you had to go this route, has the thought ever crossed your mind?

Also, I would assume the NOVA/DC area has a lot of this because woman typically are highly educated and due to stress or other issues might need to consult a doctor.

What are you talking about? Doctors using their own sperm was 50-100 years ago. And you can buy a DNA test at CVS if you're worried now. What??

No, there is a doc from Indiana that did this recently and a Netflix special on it currently.

I'm not worried, it's just the thought had not crossed my ever loving mind that this could even remotely be a thing? Especially when you are in the throes of infertility, you are just depressed and want your baby.

The fact that you are calling it an infertility clinic instead of a fertility clinic leads me to believe this is a troll post.

Yeah, this sounds like a troll post. What a nutty thing to even troll about. FWIW no, this was not something I ever worried about at all when doing IVF. Yeah, freaks are out there, but they are super rare. I was more worried about a car accident on the way to the clinic than this kind of bizarrity.

Yeah, a Daily Mail link isn't helping your case. It's a tabloid.

NP, and the source may suck, but it’s a true story. I’m watching the Netflix doc right now actually. It’s pretty horrifying. I don’t blame anyone wondering because this is a terrible story, but I hope they’re reminding themselves that this doctor was an outlier and the chances are extremely low there was anything shady going on with their own procedures.

Again, this is a story that happened 30+ years ago. No, I don’t worry about it given all the checks in modern fertility clinics.

Have you heard of paternity tests?

Why do you all think that bad things cannot happen in 2022, what if the doctor "owns" the clinic?
