| Got some beautiful rhubarb at farmers market yesterday but I don’t want to make pie. Any ideas? |
| I made a syrup to add to fizzy water/drinks. Found a recipe online but cut the sugar way back (maybe by half?), and added rosemary while it boiled. The syrup came out great and will likely repeat with the rhubarb we got from our CSA last week. What was left over after straining, I picked the rosemary out and served the mushy cooked rhubarb over ice cream and it was ridiculously delicious. |
| Jam |
| Stew the rhubarb then serve with cream or whipped cream. |
| What about a crumble? Or is that too similar to pie? |
Also good as a topping for plain yogurt -- excellent breakfast with some sliced almonds on top |
|
I like cooking it in sugar until soft but not complete mush, then mixing with strawberries for a strawberry-rhubarb shortcake.
It also makes a good trifle. |
| Are you open to savory recipes, or just sweet z? |
| I stew it down with some sugar into a compote, and use it to top my Greek yogurt and granola in the morning. Yum! |
| Jam/compote, and freeze it to go in yogurt or on toast or as kind of a side dish like applesauce. |
| I put it in stir fries. It kind of dissolves though |
| You can use it in stews/with meat, sweetens the sauce |
| I made a delicious rhubarb cake last night- from Snacking Cakes |
| I like just to rip it out of the ground and put it in the garbage where it belongs. |
Funny- I had a similar thought. |
