Why does MCPS text and email every message three times now?

Anonymous
In quick succession.

Are they that incompetent that they can’t fix a communications glitch?

No idea. The peak of spam was during the anti-racism survey, but now I still receive multiple communications from central office for each message. Then the communications are often sent out again by the PTAs of my children's schools! When I was on the PTA, I never repeated the school's messages, and coordinated with them on who sent which reminder.

Oh well. MCPS has been good for my children in other ways, so I take the good with the bad.

Meh. First world problem.

Yeah, it started after the survey.

First world problems need solving too. We do live in the first world, so this describes pretty much all of our problems and isn’ta reason not to fix them. But that wasn’t what you meant, was it? You just wanted to be dismissive. Why not just move along?

Perhaps they've merged multiple lists and didn't properly dedupe. Frankly, I'd rather receive multiple messages than no message.

But I only get one message.

Today was the day that I unsubscribed from the texts. It's just too much.

Sure. But if it's fixing Canvas/Synergy interactions or duplicate messages, I'd rather they focus on the former.

I only get one message also. I've never gotten duplicates.

I get duplicates but so what. I figure they’re trying to ensure that parents get messages and not all parents are great about reading their email. Don’t want it? Delete it or don’t read it. Not the end of the world.

I tries to stop the multiple same message texts by replying STOP and you can't. It won't go through. So, I blocked it instead. Hope it works. Receiving one message 3x is just ridiculous!

You know you can opt out.

I kept the texts and email but opted out of the phone calls.

So you have no complaints saying you didn't get the message, but on the other hand, you would complain you're getting too many like you're doing now.
Doom if they do, doom if they don't

For those of you getting duplicates, do you have more than one child in MCPS? Just wondering if the system is set up to send a message for each child, hence the duplicates?
