Greenbelt, MD woman went on vacation on March 28th - by Apr 5th her entire apartment was empty

Wow. Two squatters moved into a woman's apartment while she was on vacation for just a week. They cleared everything out - from the furniture to the cabinet doors.

He even knew her name.

Is anybody surprised by this type of behavior from these type of people?

Which type? Drug addicts? The black boyfriend and white girlfriend? The homeowner?

It’s pretty clear who the “these” people PP was referring to: criminals.

Your pathetic attempt to inject racism into it is noted.

Its not clear at all. DCUM is not shy at all about identifying who or what they're talking about. Why wouldn't PP just say that? Also 'criminals' isn't a type of people. It's a profession or lack thereof.

Well, this thread is already derailed by the "racism" "no its not" posters above.

No one's talking about how this all went down and the fact she says the guy "tackled" her (her word) and told her they'd leave but that she wasn't going to call the cops on them (in other words, threatening her that he wasn't going to "allow" her to call the cops). The whole scenario is terrifying.

If these two did this to her, they surely have done it before and will do it again. The guy supposedly even showed her "three ways" anyone could get into her apartment, so he's a pro at this. Someday this guy and his accomplice are going to be there when someone comes home, and things are not going to go like they did with this woman. The next person whose home they violate like this could end up injured or dead if these criminals feel like it, or aren't as casual about being caught as they just happened to be on the day this woman came home.

The Twitter thread had someone claiming the woman has been allowed by the rental company to break her lease and leave. I hope that's true. But now she's at vast risk of having her identity stolen since they had so much time to go through every single thing in her apartment and sell it all off, including every document in every drawer if they wanted. What a clusterf&%k.

I have a place up north on the beach. This is why I allow friends and family to use it for free whenever we aren’t there, and have the driveway AND private street plowed right to my house whenever there is snow over 4”. Element of surprise

This story is so insane. Like...what? How did they clear everything out so fast? Where'd they take it/sell it? And the cops don't know who they are, even with the video?

The clearly cased the building and knew she was going on vacation.

Why does they call them squatters as opposed to criminals and breaking and entering?

I actually hope it was a matter of their casing the building and not a matter of her posting about her vacation on social media. To be clear, I'm NOT saying she did so, just noting that when any of us is on vacation, posting to social media about the fact we're away from home is a terrible idea. Just a reminder, folks.

I wonder if there is someone in the building or the apartment community who is an accomplice and alerts these criminals when someone is gone.

Why this thread is allowed to go on? Is it because it happened in PG county?

We have blink cameras turned on whenever we leave the house. I know within 30 seconds if someone has entered and the local police number is entered in my phone (because if I’m out of town I can’t just dial 911).

What a horrible story for that woman.

Squatting isn't a major crime and MD doesn't prosecute minor assault anymore.
