FCPS just announced a quarantine period of 5 days with masking at school required. Will APS follow? |
I hope so. I think the long quarantine period makes a lot of people avoid testing thier kid. |
Wow. Big news. I hope so.
I agree people are not testing because of 10 day quarantine. |
Isolation, rather. |
Is your child not vaccinated? Who is still required to quarantine?!? |
Kids who test positive. |
I thought it was 5 days at home plus 5 days masked?
|
Kids who test positive isolate for 10 days. Quarantine is for close contacts who are unvaxxed and is already 5 days. This post is needlessly confusing. |
So the change is FCPS is now going to follow CDC guidance for isolation following a positive covid case.
5 days home and 5 days back with a well fitted mask. It used to be 10 days home. This is huge and I really hope all the other districts do this too. |
I knew what the OP meant, even if they interchanged terms. Not that confusing. |
For teachers, but for students it’s still been 10 days because they can’t stay masked around others all the time (lunch). |
People who weren’t testing their kids for a 10 day quarantine are not gonna test them for a five day quarantine either. They’re just jerks. |
Nope 10 days at home. |
Isolation. I actually think the 5 day vs 10 day is a huge difference and it may in fact affect whether people test and report. Some people really can’t have a kid out of school that long (10 day isolation). I am not in that position but can recognize others are. |
I really hope they change it soon, my kid just tested positive and I hate to have him out for 2 whole weeks when CDC recommends just 5 days isolation. |
