Will APS follow FCPS and shorten the quarantine?

Anonymous
FCPS just announced a quarantine period of 5 days with masking at school required. Will APS follow?

I hope so. I think the long quarantine period makes a lot of people avoid testing thier kid.

Wow. Big news. I hope so.

I agree people are not testing because of 10 day quarantine.

Isolation, rather.

Is your child not vaccinated? Who is still required to quarantine?!?

Kids who test positive.

I thought it was 5 days at home plus 5 days masked?

Kids who test positive.

Kids who test positive isolate for 10 days. Quarantine is for close contacts who are unvaxxed and is already 5 days. This post is needlessly confusing.

So the change is FCPS is now going to follow CDC guidance for isolation following a positive covid case.

5 days home and 5 days back with a well fitted mask.

It used to be 10 days home.

This is huge and I really hope all the other districts do this too.

I knew what the OP meant, even if they interchanged terms. Not that confusing.

For teachers, but for students it’s still been 10 days because they can’t stay masked around others all the time (lunch).

People who weren’t testing their kids for a 10 day quarantine are not gonna test them for a five day quarantine either. They’re just jerks.

Isolation.

I actually think the 5 day vs 10 day is a huge difference and it may in fact affect whether people test and report. Some people really can’t have a kid out of school that long (10 day isolation). I am not in that position but can recognize others are.

I really hope they change it soon, my kid just tested positive and I hate to have him out for 2 whole weeks when CDC recommends just 5 days isolation.
