Does anyone know when the final calendar will come out? |
They usually finalize in Jan/Feb of prior school year... so Jan/Feb 2023 for the 2023-2024 calendar. Given all of the recent changes to the calendar, I think people should push the school board to release and approve it earlier. |
Not for a long, long time. |
Should be at least by end of current school year (e.g. 15 months in advance) to allow families to plan their following summer 12 months in advance (which is often when reservations, flights, etc. open up), but whoever is responsible has their head up their 455 and can't get it done until sometime the following school year for no known reason aside from lack of prioritization and/or competence. |
For a few years, up until recently, they were developed well in advance. I’m not sure what changed recently. The staff calendar for 22-23 isn’t even final yet. |
Seriously! Other schools have calendars approved for the next 3 years and we can’t do 12 months out. |
No, they have not been developed "well in advance"... at least not for the 20 years that I have been teaching in FCPS. But, until recently, they have been predictable. Spring break always the week before Easter, first day always the Tuesday after Labor Day, 4 day weekend with Election Day, etc. With all of the changes occurring with the calendar, they should definitely set it by at least Sept/Oct of the prior school year. |
I am approaching year 30 with FCPS. There were a few years from Garza until last year that the calendar was developed over a year in advance. I’m a bit annoyed the staff calendar isn’t finalized for next year yet. |
Anyone know when the 2034-35 calendar will come out? |
You can't plan too far in advance. There might be a new religious holiday to celebrate. |
February, 2034. |
It gives the SB time to bake up all kinds of nonsense to put into the calendar. All nature of O Days at their disposal. For example, tomorrow is both Blueberry Pie Day and Love Your Thighs Day. The SB may want to reserve the right to make that an O Day in 2024. |
