Just looking for some Birthday Party advice for my 5 year old. The place that he wants to have his party is fully booked on the Saturday of the weekend that works best. They said that they could do Sunday. Are Sunday parties normal or acceptable? Would you take your kid to one if invited? Do you think 1:30 would be the best time for a decent turnout. I would just be so upset for him if not many kids could show up. Thank you for your input.

Sunday afternoons are usually perfect. Parents have already finished weekend sports and they are looking for something to do with the little ones. Yes, I would jump at the chance. |

Sunday is completely fine. 1:30 is ok but tricky if people have younger kids who nap, unless it’s a one parent bringing one kid type of thing, or drop off. But it should be fine. I’ve probably been to as many Sunday parties as Saturday.
Also, try not to project your own insecurities to your child. He may be thrilled with just a couple of kids there, a big turnout may overwhelm him, and since this is probably the first party he has had that he can remember, he doesn’t know the difference between a big or a small party. Manage your own expectations and enjoy your child and celebrating this milestone with him. Most kids at 5 are happy with a treat, a gift and maybe a balloon. |
Agree about insecurities |
| Have u thought about hosting the party at a library? There could be games like a scavenger hunt "find a book with an animal in it" "find a book about magic" or hide and seek. and maybe you could rent a room and have cake and order food. it should be available. |
| The church people may not come. They got to go to church and pray for their sins. |
| Sunday afternoon parties are normal and often easier than Saturdays (less conflict with sports/lessons.) I would avoid mornings in case you have church going friends, but most are done by 1:30 |
| Totally fine! |
| I go to as many parties on Sundays as I do on Saturdays. |
| Sundays are much better and 1:30 is a great time. |
Please no. |
| Sundays are totally fine! |
| Sunday afternoons are totally fine. |
| Sunday afternoons are fine. We go to church Sunday mornings but are done by noon so anything after 1pm works great. |
What? Or you could just book the venue you actually want on a Sunday. We’ve had lots of Sunday pm parties over the years with good turnout. |
