| I used to depend upon stride Rite to measure my son’s feet, which are on the border of wide. Where do you go to get kid feet measured for shoes? |
| Ramer's Shoes on Northampton St. just off Conn. in Chevy Chase, DC. |
| Shoe Train in MoCo. |
+1 Shoe train! |
+2 This is always the consensus on these types of threads. |
| Ramer’s |
+1 Been going for years. |
| My child is 6 and I’ve never had her feet measured. When buying shoes I start with size up from where she was the last time I bought shoes and go from there. I almost exclusively order online (always somewhere that has easy returns) and never had an issue. |
Yup. Love Ramer’s. |
How would you know if there were an issue? I've tried your way during the first year of covid and miraculously failed 3 kids. Js. |
OP here. You clearly don’t have a child with challenging foot size. I do. I wish it were as easy as it is for you, but we need measuring. |
| OP here: thank you for the recs! Does anyone have a NoVA rec? I should have specified…though I’m willing to go to DC/MD if desperate? |
| Nordstrom |
We moved from DC to Nova and still drive to Ramers... I don't think there is a place as good in Nova |

Don't bother with stride rite, the Velcro failed on ours 2 months in and they were so so ratty. Called the shoe train owner ( where we got fitted and purchased) and he said.... Oh that's normal, the avg life of a kids shoe is only 2-3 months.
We get keens sneakers in the fall winter and wear the sandals in the spring summer. They last thru at least 2 kids and my kids exclusively wear these shoes rough and hard. They are no more expensive than stride rites. |
