| Looking for advice, we will be renovating our bathroom and I've fallen in love with a black and white marble floor. I understand there is upkeep with marble, which we wouldn't mind. However, as this will be our main bathroom floor, which we will be sharing with little humans, i'm wondering if even with proper maintenance the floor may get stained/damaged. Wondering if anyone has relevant experience to share on how their own marble floors have held up. Thanks! |
No it sucks. It’s a trap. Don’t do it. |
| I’m happy with my marble bathroom. The countertops are a slab and discolored but the floors still look great. Previous owner did the bath 10-11 years ago I think. |

We have white marble with grayish streaks in one bathroom. All was fine until DS decided to start using it. I have cleaned it as much as possible, and perhaps too aggressively, but an area around the toilet is distinctly etched and looks different from the rest of the floor.
On the other hand, we have green marble in another bathroom, which may perhaps be serpentine, and it has stood up really well with very little care. I love the green floor, but I think it is not fashionable. |

I'm happy with mine - it's gorgeous - but I also think about my floors more than any other flooring I've ever had. I make sure they get cleaned with the right product, no water left on them, etc. If I could do it again I'd keep looking to find a different material in a tile I could love as much, because it's honestly a PITA just to worry about. Even though nothing bad has happened!
If you have other housing design choices that you baby and it doesn't bother you, this might not apply. I just wish I didn't have to think about my bathroom floors at all. |

The idiots who owned my last house before me put this kind of tile in the hall bath but you realize there are large format marble tiles that aren’t slippery plus many smaller format tiles which won’t be remotely slippery (e.g. small hex, etc.) |
| We’re selling a house right now with marble tile — it’s super slippery!! |
| We did this in our master bath and it was fine. Woman at tile store steered us away from it (and to a cheaper option) for our boys bathroom. |

Don’t do it.
My whole damn house is marble and I hate it. |
| All our bathrooms are marble. No problems with etching. |
| So slippery |
| Marble will patina over time period. I recommend a marble like porcelain tile. They have really good looking ones I promise. No maintenance other than the usual. Most importantly non porous |
How old are they? |

We put in a beautiful honed marble small format (think mosaic, hex, etc.) to our last place and I absolutely loved it. Super low maintenance, looked great the whole 10 years we lived there. Got so many compliments on it. Got it from Ann Sacks.
We live somewhere else now and will probably eventually redo our bathroom floors with the same material. |
