How much of the Carlyle Group does Youngkin still own?
Because it’s a funny coincidence that the ONLY regular math books that Florida selected happen to be published by a company owned by the Carlyle Group. https://amp.tallahassee.com/amp/7357965001 ”For regular math classes, Accelerate Learning's STEMscopes Florida Math books are the only option for school districts.[i] “The Carlyle Group, a global investment firm, acquired Accelerate Learning on Dec. 20, 2018, according to the firm's website. During that time, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin was the co-CEO of the firm.” Just another grifter. Shocker. |

“Carlyle reported that Youngkin holds more than 6.7 million shares in the company. At Thursday’s closing stock price of $46.55 a share, that would be worth about $310 million.“ |
| Always follow the money. There's always a great behind their faux outrage. |
| Look at that. And I thought the grift was limited to his charter school interests. Never saw the textbook angle. Where the h*ll is the media in all this? |
Great question. |
| What a con man. I really hope some media covers this boondoggle — starting culture wars for political and monetary gain. |
|
But he’s donating his whole salary! That means he doesn’t care about money!

Came to post this.
Yes. As usual, Republicans are fleecing their voters, stealing their tax dollars and putting it in the pockets of GOP billionaires are elites. There’s a reason GOP consultants say that GOP elites call their voters “useful fools” and talk about lying to the voters. Youngkin is just the living breathing example of how GOP elites fleece their voters, while distracting their voters with white Christian identity politics. |
Yup. The useful idiots were fleeced. |
| I’m curious to know if the Florida Department of Education is EVER going to provide actual examples of the “CRT” in the current math textbooks that would necessitate throwing them away and replacing them with Carlyle Group textbooks. |
Here's an article from 3 days ago https://www.freep.com/story/news/2022/04/19/desantis-textbooks-florida-woke-one-publisher-allowed-k-5-math-classes/7357965001/ |
That’s the same Tallahassee Democrat article that’s in the OP, reprinted by the Detroit Free Press. They’re probably both owned by Gannett or one of the other big conglomerates that own multiple local newspapers. |
Me again, it is Gannett because the USA Today ran it as well. Yahoo News did also. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2022/04/19/desantis-textbooks-florida-woke-one-publisher-allowed-k-5-math-classes/7357965001/ https://www.yahoo.com/news/desantis-administration-rejects-textbooks-only-122828296.html Also, the Palm Beach Post had a prior article not mentioning Accelerate Learning but noting that it will cost $20 million dollars to roll out the new materials, just for the school districts in Palm Beach County. https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/news/education/2022/04/18/florida-schools-confused-after-textbooks-tossed-over-woke-theories/7354987001/ “What you hear isn't half of it. He's got scams you haven't even dreamed of. Kickbacks on his kickbacks. There's a river of dirty money running through this place.” |
| Not surprising. |
