Windshield got a small crack. No deductible if no replacement. Automated Insurance for, directed me to go to safelite and get this fixed for free. Did that. The tech said they guarantee their work. Now three weeks out, it’s spread to a huge crack. I called to invoke warranty and they said they had no billing/work info and that I misunderstood about the warranty. I had asked if there was any documentation for me before leaving and they said, no we deal with insurance.
My husband is out of town till summer and been very busy else I leave car stuff to him as I always get conned or get quoted higher prices. Maybe I didn’t take all the steps I should have? Like insisted on a written warranty etc? What next? Any suggestions appreciated. |
| Call insurance and explain to them. I bet they send a lot of busienss to that vendor so they'll straighten it out. |
| I’m surprised that you think there is warranty for that. Patching a crack doesn’t always work and when it doesn’t the crack spreads. Let your insurer know if you are intending to make a claim. |
| The same thing happened to us. We have USAA. Safelite came out and filled the crack but long story short, we eventually needed a new windshield. There is a deductible for that as opposed to just filling it. However, we had horrible customer service. It was so bad we called corporate who admitted to being horrified. They ended up firing the manager and front office staff at the location we visited. All that to say, talk to insurance and get corporate involved. They were surprisingly helpful. |
NP. When you say corporate it seemed like you were saying corporate for Safelite but then it seemed Corporate = Insurance? |
