Artipoppe Zeitgeist - reviews? Worth the money?

Anonymous
Any experience with the Artipoppe Zeitgeist carriers? We’re expecting Baby #2 in a few months and I’m going to lean heavily into baby wearing so I can manage my toddler at the same time. I’ve found some positive reviews on YouTube, but there aren’t many so I can’t get a sense of how they are generally received. Reviews say that they are very comfortable and supportive in addition to being very stylish, so it seems like what I’m looking for. I’m specifically considering the cotton leopard or tweed versions.

It is a stupid amount of money, but I do love mine and still use it with my 10 month old.

Thank you! And yes it’s absurdly spendy, but happy to hear that it’s worked out so well for you.

Lean into? Absurdly spendy?

Absurdly spendy indeed. I thought we were “splashing out” buying his and her carriers from lillebaby and we still didn’t spend as much as one of these OP posted. I can’t imagine you are paying for it to be “more comfortable” or “easier to manage” at that price differential which means it really is about the overall look. If you have the money to spend on that (and this is someone who considered a silk ring sling for a wedding, so I get it) go for it, but it isn’t because a $400 carrier is going to be so much better (like higher end strollers can be.)

Very helpful. Thanks! Any others that you use?

OP if you did not babywear with your first and want to with your second, I recommend going to a local babywearing group (they're all over the area) and trying on different carriers. Maybe the one you like best will be $400, but also: maybe not. Both DH and I wore DD all the time, and even though everyone in our friend group raved about the Ergo I found it really strangely cumbersome to put on, and preferred the much-cheaper Baby Bjorn. Different people have different body proportions, different heights, different centers of gravity, different preferences, etc., so reviews don't mean much unless they're pointing out a design defect or something universal. I'd hate for you to shell out $$$$ for this particular model only to find that it doesn't quite work for you.

OP, what are you gonna do the first time your toddler gets food and/or snot on your silk and wool baby carrier?

Assuming you’re having a summer baby and I promise you won’t be baby wearing outside in DC. I planned to baby wear a lot and spent zero time doing it because it’s so freaking hot. Super uncomfortable for you and not healthy for your baby.

Hmm but think about how many people wear their babies in India and Africa…? I would hope OP isn’t pounding the pavement outside all day when her baby is a newborn, though. Regardless, I babywear a ton inside. But I’m that note, if it’s only inside and nobody is going to see it, why buy the super fashionable silk baby carrier???

OP here.

Thanks for all the insights. I actually did some baby wearing with my first, but found our carrier (the smaller model Baby Bjorn that someone mentioned) to not be supportive enough for my back. My husband liked it a lot better and used it longer than I did. We considered investing in one of the Ergo carriers, but just start using our stroller more. The Ergo also struck me as overly complicated and cumbersome, which also turned me off the idea of getting one.

I also fully acknowledge that this Artipoppe carrier is overpriced. No doubt about it. But the reviews I’ve found have cited it as very comfortable, supportive, and stylish, all of which are important to me.

I also don’t live in DC anymore. I expect it to be cooler here than DC when Baby #2 is due. I would also babywear inside.

I love the suggestion of contacting a baby wearing group. Will give that a try before pulling the trigger. I’m all about the pre purchase research so eager to learn more. This is one carrier I’m considering, so happy to get their feedback on others too.

You might have luck with the Baby Bjorn Free since you liked the mini. The Free has the extra waist support and you put it on pretty much the same way as the mini.

Oh my god

Motherhood is in need of a paradigm shift towards her nature. A nature of instincts, bonding and mindful nourishing. First and foremost, we’re not here to define for you what motherhood, parenthood, should or shouldn’t be.
