It would be her job if he had been invited by the White House. He wasn’t, and she doesn’t have to change her schedule to accommodate his showing up.

It is her job. Change her schedule?

You mean the appointment she made with a sorority in Indiana?
lol
She has known about this visit for months.
This demonstrates how “serious” she will be when it comes to foreign policy.

She is meeting with him privately during the day.

And I guess you don't understand the importance of a national service sorority.

+1

Any time she wants to put her commitments to Americans first I’m going to support that choice.

I keep seeing this argument (almost like there’s a coordinated campaign to promote it, so weird), and it just does not resonate for me. She was literally already on the ticket.

It’s like the twilight zone around here. I can’t believe this needs to be explained… On the ticket as VP, not President. Imagine if we’d had open primaries? Imagine if Biden’s state had not been intentionally hidden from the people for the last 2 years? That in and of itself is something we should be fuming about. This just isn’t how democracy is supposed to work.

This.

The reason people who who voted for Biden in 2020 and in 2024 primaries aren’t freaking out and weeping over their disenfranchisement as Republicans hope we will is that…we voted for her. Joe Biden could have won the election and resigned on January 20, 2025 at 9pm and she’d have been the President. Leaving a race is legal. Leaving the Presidency is legal.

The Republican misunderstanding of someone not rabidly and desperately clinging to power is where the cognitive dissonance is.

Well said, PP.

VP Kamala Harris Had 92-Percent Staff Turnover During Her First Three Years

Chaos reigns on the vice president’s staff. And Harris tried to hide it by claiming that her office is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Under Kamala Harris, the Office of the Vice President has been called a “revolving door,” a “staff exodus” of key aides “heading for the exits.”

That’s not hyperbole from the national media.

Our auditors at OpenTheBooks quantified an extraordinarily high 91.5-percent staff turnover rate. We used U.S. Senate disclosures to conduct our investigation and those databases can be downloaded below.

Although I don’t necessarily agree that “Biden’s state was intentionally hidden for two years” — but I understand that’s what people believe to be true.

But yes - she was not elected in primaries as a presidential candidate. She was not elected in primaries as a vice-nominee, either.

The GOP absolutely will make hay out of this.

I mean, there are reports that many insiders knew and were worried as early as 2021. Many people on the hill and even cabinet members had very little direct interaction with the man over the last few years.

If this isn't years-long intentional hiding, what is?

They did a terrible job hiding it though

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/poll-americans-on-biden-age/story?id=107126589

"According to the poll, conducted using Ipsos' Knowledge Panel, 86% of Americans think Biden, 81, is too old to serve another term as president. That figure includes 59% of Americans who think both he and former President Donald Trump, the Republican front-runner, are too old and 27% who think only Biden is too old."

93% of Trump's cabinet members are not supporting him or endorsing his 2024 candidacy.

100% of Trump's former vice presidents are not supporting his candidacy.

As long as the people concerned about this were equally concerned by Flynn’s 22 day tenure and subsequent confession to working with Russia…

PP, why do you think this is a story?

Do you think the turnover is suggestive of an issue with her leadership style?

Do you think the turnover implies there will be dysfunction in government if she’s elected?

If so, can you please contrast these concerns with your preferred candidate, his leadership style, and the functionality of his White House?

Some of the stuff about Harris's staff is troubling. Unfortunately, IME this is common among female leaders who don't get the same respect as male leaders.

From what I have read, things have gotten a lot better in the last two years with a new chief of staff.

Trump's record with his staff on the other hand never got better. How many lawyers has he gone through? How many people who have worked with him are in prison or have spoken publicly against him?

The Republicans are big scared and I am finding their panic after their months of confidence to be delightful. Harris has turned out to be ridiculously popular and appears to gather more popularity as she goes, kind of like Obama. She’s intelligent and articulate and she could not be stronger contrast to Trump if she tried.

This comment should be the standard bearer for any of these discussions.

How many of Trumps staff picks and associates resigned in disgrace or went to jail?

Who cares? Look at the alternative! You're not going to win over anyone who was already going to support Biden, PP. Harris also energizes a ton of folks, including young people. Keep grasping for straws.

Harris had a horrible Chief of Staff - Tina Flournoy - for a couple of years. The VP Office was completely dysfunctional. Everyone left. And that is 100 percent on Kamala Harris for entrusting everything to someone so deeply incompetent and divisive as Flournoy. But eventually Harris did get a new Chief of Staff and things have gone much more smoothly since. Her choice of senior advisors though is definitely something to look for going forward. Her instincts are not always the best.
