right, let’s compound the historic inequities of Tuskeegee by keeping black kids out of school. I’ve been saying this all along, but the school closure advocates were totally unconscionable in exploiting black fears by exaggerating the danger of open schools. And now here is the result - black families are scared to return, against all evidence. instead of acting like that fear is extrinsic, schools need to own that they created it and they need to address if now. |
Do you mean PTAs? Look. You are just desperately clawing at any excuse you can to avoid accountability. Until schools are reopened you have nothing to stand on when you claim there are other “fights” that need more attention. |
This came up bc someone told me to STFU after bringing up that after schools reopen we should start focusing on improving equity.that’s all. |
Beacuse you're purposefully creating a tangent. Read the article and if you need to beat this other dead horse some more, create yet another thread on it. |
I told you to stfu because I don’t want to listen one more second to someone exploiting anti-racism to keep schools closed. It’s truly dark. The ONLY thing anyone who actually cares about school equity should be focused on is getting schools opened. |
she’s not only creating a tangent - she’s (willfully?) ignoring the plank in her own eye. the biggest blow to school equity this century is going to be school closures in urban districts. nothing else even comes close. |
A 100+ post thread of people telling other families what to do but sure |

My favorite DCUM conspiracy theory! 15 WOTP parents yelling at a message board = the downfall of the urban school system. Miss me with enrollment being down this year; Ward 3 is literally building extra schools to deal with overcrowding |
Kids LITERALLY are not in school. Homeless kids. Black kids. Disabled kids. ELL kids. That’s literally still happening this morning - meanwhile bars, restaurants and gyms are opened at full capacity. Only willful ignorance could deny the enormity of this. At a minimum it completely and totally destroys any claim you may make that you have some kind of moral high ground in the school equity fight. But sure, tell me again how rich PTAs are really the problem compared to DC schools being literally unable to get kids into the classroom. Also tell me again how I’m just a “nice white parent” and shouldn’t say anything about the situation, because the people with the true moral authority are the ones keeping black kids out of the classroom. |
This argument is outdated by several months. At this point it's something else is, it's vaccine refusal akin to all the white republicans that equally refuse. |
+1. You can’t excuse every harmful behavior with racist atrocities of the distant past. |
I agree. But, I also think there are pockets of people in DC who need more outreach and support to getting vaxxed. Reopening schools and offering vaccines at each school would be a big help. |
| How many weeks are left in school year? |
