Are you getting your kids Covid tested for a runny nose?

1000% No. Just no.

It's a freakn runny nose

It's not allergies or COVID -- it's a cold. Rhinovirus is circulating quite strongly right now. Kids get colds, especially little ones who touch everything, put their hands in their mouths, etc.. I'm not testing my toddlers and preschoolers, nor quarantining them, every time they get a runny nose. If I developed symptoms, I would get a test.

I admit that I have not gotten my kids tested with each runny nose, but there is evidence that the UK variant which is spreading around the US is much more highly transmitted among kids than what we'd been confronting throughout 2020, so I probably will be quicker to get them tested from now on.

She doesn't have school again until Monday. If her symptoms improve and no one else in the family gets sick, I won't get her tested. If they don't improve, I will call the pediatrician on Monday to get advice. No one in my family has gotten tested for COVID since it began.

Same thing here. Not planning to test either.
