Two loose pitbulls maul three people in Milwaukee. Someone had to shoot the dogs to get them to stop attacking. |

| How did these dogs become so popular? They don’t even look cute. |

The biggest problem I see is that the least aggressive dogs are also the most high needs. They were specifically bred to be with a family or involved in retrieving. Any ancestors that showed aggression were not bred but bull breeds were only bred if they were aggressive.
My dog is a flat coated retriever, likely mixed but its possible she is pure bred. We got her from a local shelter. She is very high needs for exercise attention and can suffer from separation anxiety. This breed was super popular in the early 1900s because it was such a good family dog but it needs to exercise and desires people to be around and most families dont have this type of structure anymore so they fell out of popularity. In the US and UK there is not a single record of aggression or biting from a flat coated retriever. Its considered the Peter Pan of dogs. More popular in Europe. She greats everyone who comes in with a toy. She is amazing with children. She wants to join at drop off and pickup. She loves hiking and swimming. We had to put a lot of training in from the beginning and then since year 1 its been smooth sailing. |

A 71 year old woman was raking leaves in her own yard. A loose pitbull mauled her until she lost consciousness, and then continued to attack her, biting her face and neck. Police Tazed the dog, and when it kept biting the woman, shot the dog and killed it. |
I have a food aggressive dog, and my DD grew up with him. It takes A LOT of vigilance, and I'm only now starting to let my guard down (she's 11, we've worked with him a lot, and he's vastly improved). |
Their population size, in comparison to those of the most popular dogs, is exceedingly small. Popularity is the curse of dogs; random people start breeding them without consideration for health and temperament, and it leads to problems down the road. |

Enough with these stupid dogs. I’m an animal lover. But these dogs need to be put out of their and everyone else’s misery. There are SO many other dogs in shelters that don’t have jaws that can kill and aren’t known for unpredictable aggression. Most dogs give a growl if they’re unhappy so you can at least back away or get time to leave the area. But these dogs just SNAP like psychos and will even come onto your own property.
No thank you. I don’t want these things near me or my families. Your little “pibble” baby is not more important than other people’s lives crazy nutso pit bull lovers. |

This was in the UK. A loose pitbull mauled a mother and her in children in a public park, who were just participating in an Easter egg hunt. It also killed a deer by chasing it into a fence, leaving it with severe injuries. |
IDIOTS. |

Those dogs should have a killer status. Potential ticking bomb. How many kids have to die?
NOT every animal is human friendly but some are predictably aggressive and unpredictable. They should be in the same category as wolfs, alligators and bears. Pitbull is NOT A PET> It is a killing machine. |
. Excellent point PP> |
| I was down at the wharf the other day and saw two different people there with pitbulls. Luckily the dogs were leashed and seemed under control. But I still kept my distance and was aware of them when they were near me. These things are just ticking time bombs. There are so many children around in the city and it makes me sick to think of what one of these dogs could do if they just decide to attack. |
Ugh why would you keep an aggressive dog? Your poor child. |
